This pull request makes minor documentation improvements to the `robots.mdx` API reference, correcting a typo and clarifying the description of `robots.js` route handler behavior. - Documentation clarity and typo fixes: * Corrected "Route Handlers" to "Route Handler" in the description of `robots.js` and updated the explanation for clarity. * Fixed the spelling of "customise" to "customize" for consistency with American English.* Fixed spelling on some words of the robots.mdx documentation: - Handlers (plural) to Handler (singular) - customise = customize <!-- Thanks for opening a PR! Removing examples that we are not using, or maintaining anymore.
There’s an inconsistency in the docs: [unstable_cache](https://nextjs.org/docs/app/api-reference/functions/unstable_cache) has already been replaced by use cache, so I think the documentation should be updated accordingly. I’d appreciate it if you could look into this, should that be the case. @icyJoseph <!-- Thanks for opening a PR! Your contribution is much appreciated. ### What? `use` is not a hook. It's highlighted in the doc > Unlike React Hooks, use can be called within loops and conditional statements like if. Reworded the "With request APIs" section in the `after()` documentation. ### Why? To clearly differentiate when `cookies()` and `headers()` can be used inside `after()` in App Router pages (Server Components) versus Route Handlers/Server Functions, addressing potential confusion and potential runtime errors. ### How? - Split the "With request APIs" section into two subsections: "In Route Handlers and Server Functions" and "In Server Components (pages and layouts)". - Clarified that `cookies()`/`headers()` can be used directly in `after()` for Route Handlers/Server Functions. - Explained that `cookies()`/`headers()` *cannot* be used directly in `after()` for Server Components due to partial prerendering/Cache Components, and will throw a runtime error. - Added a new code example demonstrating the correct pattern for Server Components (reading request data *before* `after()` and passing it in). - Corrected `await` syntax in existing Route Handler examples and updated highlight line numbers. …set value (#89913) ## Summary - Add note that omitting `expire` in `cacheLife` results in cache never expiring - Fix `default` preset table: `expire` was documented as "1 year" but actual code uses `INFINITE_CACHE` (never) - Add mention of expire omission behavior in custom profiles section ## Why The `expire` property is optional (`expire?: number`), but the documentation didn't explain what happens when it's omitted. The source code shows it defaults to `INFINITE_CACHE` (0xfffffffe), meaning the cache never expires. Additionally, the preset profile table incorrectly listed the `default` profile's expire as "1 year" when the actual value is `INFINITE_CACHE`. ### Source code references - `packages/next/src/lib/constants.ts:45` — `INFINITE_CACHE = 0xfffffffe` - `packages/next/src/server/config-shared.ts:1580` — `default.expire: INFINITE_CACHE` - `packages/next/src/server/use-cache/cache-life.ts:156` — only sets `explicitExpire` when `expire !== undefined` - `packages/next/src/server/use-cache/use-cache-wrapper.ts:477-479` — falls back to `defaultCacheLife.expire` (INFINITE_CACHE) --------- Co-authored-by: Joseph <joseph.chamochumbi@vercel.com>

Adds a guide for configuring AI coding agents to use the version-matched documentation bundled in `node_modules/next/dist/docs/` (shipped via the `copy_docs` build task in #89850) instead of stale training data. The guide covers how the bundled docs work, the `AGENTS.md` and `CLAUDE.md` files generated by `create-next-app --agents-md`, and how to add project-specific instructions outside the `<!-- BEGIN:nextjs-agent-rules -->` markers.

Trying out a new way to publish updates. We won't always backport this many docs updates.
Typos and other minor fixes can wait until a new minor release.
This is more about keeping the docs in sync with the latest release, while still being able to still or publish content (new guides, etc), without having to wait for a patch release.
Merging to the backport branch is enough to get the document published automatically.
