`doc_auto_cfg` was recently removed from rustc. See RustCrypto/traits#2028. `doc_cfg` is also now automatic.

v1.8.2. was released in #1229. Also bumps the version down to `1.9.0-pre` to note that v1.9.0 has not yet been released.

Note: this is a backport release which doesn't include the bump to MSRV 1.85 / 2024 edition. I'd like to give that one a little more time to bake, as last time we tried to bump
