Prose & Poetry / Art & Hybrids

What we’re looking for:
Unpublished* original creations 
* We will, however consider orphaned stories (previously published in now defunct magazines) as long as they have not been printed (on paper) and are no longer available online, but please mention it on the form.

Your work can be in any genre (e.g. noir, epistolary, humour, etc.) and any form (including hybrid & comics) as long as it is emotional and raw.

What we don't accept:
  • published work (written or visual),
  • anything posted publicly online (including on personal sites & social media)
  • AI-generated work.
  • Fan fiction or fan art, erotica, pornography, bestiality, pedophilia, excessive gore, racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, aggressive hatefulness towards a person/group/religion, unnecessarily sexual, gross, violent, or vulgar stories.

Once we accept a piece, if we come across it online prior to publication (site/blog/social media/magazine/anthology), it will be removed from the issue.



Guidelines:

Prose - Fiction & Non-fiction:
  • Up to 3 pieces - maximum 2000 words total
  • Formatting: Times New Roman - size 12 - double spaced

Poetry: 
  • Up to 3 poems at a max of 6 pages on one document
  • Formatting: Times New Roman - size 12 - single spaced

Artwork: original artwork only. 
  • Up to 5 works - paintings, drawings, photography, collages, short comics or digital art (this is not an exhaustive list).  All frames must fit on one page.
  • No restriction on medium - image at least 300 pixels (limited to 900 ppi). 
  • No pornographic material of any kind.

Hybrid: 
  • Written hybrids: up to 3 prose/poetry on one document via the prose/poetry submission - see Prose/Poetry guidelines
  • Visual Hybrids: up to 5 images (with a visual background e.g. painting/photography/collage) - see Artwork guidelines

Submission Guidelines:
  • We use Google Forms for submissions. 
  • No cover letter is required. 
  • Author Biographies should be 50 words or less.
  • Available options: remain anonymous, use a pseudonym, and dedicate your work. 
  • Websites & social media tags will be used for promotion and the links added on our site.

File Format:
  • Written work: up to 3 pieces on 1 document. doc/docx format only - we do not accept Google docs.
  • Artwork & Hybrid: jpg/png format (up to 5 pieces) - we do not accept PDF.
  • File name: Genre_Title. - Genres: poetry/fiction/CNF/art.

Content Warnings: 
Writers: If content warnings apply to your work, please check any suitable on the submission form.
Reminder: 
We want writing that helps to process emotions, not incite or encourage harm. ​

Response time:
  • We will respond to every submission as fast as our timetable allows.  However, if you have not heard from us within 15 days of submitting, do get in touch. 
  • While we aren’t able to offer feedback on all submissions, we'll pick one story per issue and offer full feedback. We also try our best to provide individualised responses.
  • In the event where we feel a story needs editing, we will run it by the author before publication.​​

Multiple Submissions & Simultaneous Submissions:
  • Multiple Submissions: You can submit once to each category (prose-poetry-art)
  • Simultaneous submissions are fine, but be sure to let us know as soon as possible if your work is accepted elsewhere. We’re happy to see you published, even if it isn’t with us.
  • If we’ve published you before, feel free to submit again during any of our submission cycles.

Compensation:
We wish we could, but there is no compensation for either writers, artists, or editors.
