film, hence my love of films like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0133093\/\">The Matrix<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0299977\/\">Hero<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0113568\/\">Ghost in the Shell<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0085809\/\">Koyaanisqatsi<\/a>. There is something intrinsically spectacular in the way these films manage to turn every frame into a work of art which captures the imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"252\" class=\"wp-image-69491\" src=\"https:\/\/randomwire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/appleseed1.jpg\" alt=\"Appleseed\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Last weekend I had the pleasure of watching the remade version of Shirow Masamune\u2019s \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0401233\/\">Appleseed<\/a>\u2018 which was recently released in Japan. Although my copy doesn\u2019t have any English subtitles it didn\u2019t matter because the story was secondary to this visual feast of hybrid cell-shaded CGI animation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"252\" class=\"wp-image-69423\" src=\"https:\/\/randomwire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/appleseed2.jpg\" alt=\"Appleseed\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>From what I\u2019ve read and gathered from watching it the story has something to do with a band of the last remaining members of the human race who are locked in a war with bioroids, an army of machines who once were domestic servants in the year 2131 (sound familiar?). Yes it\u2019s clich\u00e9d and over dramatized but this doesn\u2019t really bother me because it just looks stunning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"252\" class=\"wp-image-69483\" src=\"https:\/\/randomwire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/appleseed3.jpg\" alt=\"Appleseed\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Both the camera and animation motion dynamics in this film are incredible. As the action unfolds so the camera fluidly sweeps through it all in such a way that live action films can only dream of. The detail of the animation is very stylized and practically unique from what I\u2019ve seen, having a simplistic but very modern feel to it. It does not try to imitate photo-realism like some other high budget anime films. It\u2019s also worth mentioning the <a href=\"http:\/\/global.yesasia.com\/en\/PrdDept.aspx\/pid-1003290633\/did-0\/code-j\/section-music\/\">soundtrack<\/a> which is also pretty unique in its used of industrial techno which is very fitting to the mode of the piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"450\" height=\"243\" class=\"wp-image-69424\" src=\"https:\/\/randomwire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/appleseed4.jpg\" alt=\"Appleseed\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Overall this film may not be as deep or sophisticated as some of the other films I listed at the beginning but it doesn\u2019t half look good.
