Christopher
I saw Christopher today.
I happened to be passing through the library while his class was in there and he came right over to say hello. Didn't even mind when I hugged him tight, right there in front of all his cool fifth grade buds. He's tall and handsome, but he's still Christopher. I asked him how testing was going (we're right in the middle of our state standards test) and he got very serious.
"I'm trying my best," he said. He had a concerned look on his face, like maybe I wouldn't think so.
"I bet you are," I told him. "You always did for me."
"Yeah. Even though I made jokes and stuff, huh."
"Yup. I still knew you were trying your best. Keep doing that, okay? You've only got a month left here before you move on to middle school."
"Yeah." He nodded, still serious. "I better leave something good at this school so they remember me."
Don't worry, Chris.
