not a birthday post

tygerseye told me recently that all I ever post anymore are birthday wishes. Looking back through my recent entries, she's sadly right. I shall rectify. Plz contain your delight.

So, my summer started off with a trip to Vegas that was a bachelorette party for my now sister-in-law. Those of you who've seen pictures of her will undoubtedly agree with me when i say she is quite stunning, and by 'quite', I mean A LOT. And so are her friends. In any case, to make a long story v. short, it wasn't the greatest trip to Vegas I've ever taken, but it wasn't truly horrible either. It did have its low points. :|

Two weeks after the bachelorette party came my brother's wedding, and yes, I was in the wedding party. I've been in many a wedding in my life, and I truly thought my bridesmaid days were over. Not so, my friends. At least the dress wasn't terrible. I know you want to ask if I can wear it again, because that's what everyone asks, but although it was a decent bridesmaid's dress, the fact remains that it was still a bridesmaid's dress. Therefore, the answer is no, I cannot and will not wear it again. Here is the only picture I will consent to show in an unlocked post:

That is me, hugging my baby brother just before he went out and got himself all married up. Thankfully, I am facing away from the camera so you cannot see me bawling like a baby and ruining my makeup even before the ceremony. See, the dress is decent. And my brother is so handsome. :x:x:x

Six days after the wedding, bigboobedcanuck and bliss_ landed in town for Comicon. Fortunately for me, they landed early enough for us to spend some time together, and we had a wonderful five days of shopping and food and talking and reading Harry Potter, which they both finished before me and were very good to discuss it only behind their closed bedroom door in hushed whispers. For this and many other reasons, I love them. mcfeste was also with us for two of the nights and regaled us with tales of celebrities, because she is awesome, and now that she lives here in my state she is awesomer still. I had some very brief time with baby_sis in LA and then again as she breezed through to pick up my Canadians.

The Canadians left on a Thursday, and the very next day I was on a plane heading east to see tygerseye, betra, and byrne at tygerseye's anniversary party. I was very delighted to share space with tsuki_no_bara, and we bonded instantly over two things: cake, and Hal Sparks being a media whore. It was very refreshing. The party was awesome, Jean and Beth are wonderful hostesses, and I left with a lot of mosquito bites.

From their house, byrne and I flew to very, very eastern Canada, where I spent five and a half lovely days with her and her family. Two of those days included us at a very nice resort, getting very nice massages and having very nice tea on the porch. :D OH, also. She taught me to knit! *loves so much* I have a very messy half-rectangle that will hopefully soon grow into a very messy whole rectangle, and then maybe even into a potholder or something. :x One can hope.

So now I am home, in the midst of a week of curriculum training, and my summer is very quickly drawing to a close. It has been very eventful. In short, Deathly Hallows was excellent, my baby brother now has a wife, and I love Canada. The end.
