my show
Ten years ago, there came a show. And that show did yield a young, blonde, asskicking cheerleader. The cheerleader was all that stood between me and the forces of darkness and lo, she was good.
There is an old, yellowed cartoon taped to my desk that I cut out of the newspaper ten years ago. In it, a little girl is watching television and her mother is speaking to her father. "I told her she could be anything she wanted to be when she grew up," the mother is saying. "She's narrowed it down to Warrior Princess or Vampire Slayer."
I'll take Vampire Slayer anytime. I love you, Buffy Summers. I still want to be you.
