I was thinking of how Noah (a) called his son to save himself. Even though his son could see the world around him in turmoil, he chose to ignore the call that would save him. Instead, he tried to seek refuge somewhere else.

This scenario reminds me of the call to prayer...

When the time comes, do we respond more like Noah (a), or more like his son...? Do we respond to the call, or do we drown in the dunya instead?

And ˹so˺ the Ark sailed with them through waves like mountains. Noah called out to his son, who stood apart, “O my dear son! Come aboard with us and do not be with the disbelievers.” (42) He replied, “I will take refuge on a mountain, which will protect me from the water.” Noah cried, “Today no one is protected from Allah’s decree except those to whom He shows mercy!” And the waves came between them, and his son was among the drowned. Who inspired the bird with how to fly? This small bird, which does not possess all the faculties of understanding that Allah granted to the human being, who taught the bird to remain stable in flight and to hunt whilst scouring the atmosphere airborne? Who holds its wings so that it does not fall? Who taught it how to draw in its wings, so that the rational human being later learned from it the philosophy of flight? Who taught it? Who made the bird teach the human being how to fly? Who taught it? It is none other than the Most Merciful. “Indeed, He is All-Seeing of everything.”

Have they not seen the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings? None holds them up except the Most Compassionate. Indeed, He is All-Seeing of everything. (19)

very powerful ayah made me stop and reflect...

Forgetting God leads to a deeper loss — losing awareness of one’s own purpose and identity. When people disconnect from the divine, they often lose clarity about who they truly are and why they exist.

And do not be like those who forgot Allah, so He made them forget themselves. It is they who are ˹truly˺ rebellious. (19)

well the translation of rebellious dare I say is inaccurate ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ is from the root فسق and it means a seed that is pulled from the date. And, that has a deeper meaning than rebelliousness it is related to getting out of one nature 'Fitra'. The translation in Saheeh International sounds more aligned "defiantly disobedient" though not exact.

Humans often place their trust in structures of security: -wealth -political power -strong institutions -physical defenses. Yet the Qur’an reminds us that no structure can guarantee permanence. Real security lies in alignment with truth and justice.

The surah tells believers: فَاعْتَبِرُوا يَا أُولِي الْأَبْصَارِ (59:2) “So take a lesson, O people of insight.”

History in the Qur’an is not presented merely as storytelling. It is meant to awaken reflection. Events of the past become mirrors through which we examine our own actions and societies.

Repairing Relationships Is Worship

Allah does not treat reconciliation as optional kindness, but as a commanded responsibility that protects the health of the community. Small conflicts spread when pride refuses to reset, so peacemaking becomes leadership: you stop harm before it hardens, and you earn Allah’s mercy by preserving what He called brotherhood.

The first thing I ever wrote was a poem.

I am as much a poet as I am a writer. Maybe more.

When I first read this verse, I felt uneasy. The poets—they roam in every valley. They say what they do not do.

Roaming. Wandering without direction. Words disconnected from life.

Was I one of them? I stopped writing poetry..

But then I saw.

"Except..."

Illa.

Except those who believe, do righteous deeds, and remember Allah often.

The exception poets don't roam.

They retreat.

They turn inward, not outward. They stop wandering through every valley of thought and emotion, chasing the next beautiful phrase, the next applause.

Instead, they go inward. To see what's there. To stitch within what t

Tests Are Sometimes Hidden Mercy

There are things in life we wish never happened.

A rejection that hurt deeply. A relationship that ended. An opportunity that slipped away. A plan that completely collapsed.

In those moments we ask ourselves: “Why would Allah allow this?”

But Allah tells us something that challenges our perspective:

“Perhaps you dislike something while it is good for you, and perhaps you love something while it is bad for you. Allah knows and you do not know.” (Qur’an 2:216)

Our vision is limited to the present moment.

We see the pain now. We see the disappointment now. We see the closed door now.

But Allah sees the entire story.

Sometimes what you wanted would have

The Qur’an often describes the Hereafter using images of food and drink — because nourishment represents what sustains us.

The tree of Zaqqūm is a stark reminder that what the soul “feeds on” in life — truth or arrogance, gratitude or denial — will shape the reality it encounters in the next world.

When someone (evil within ourselves, jinn and mankind evil) offers us toxic drinks of temptations, desires and whisperings ,we should follow the example of Sulaiman Alaihisalam who said " What Allah has given me is better than what he has given you"

An-Naml 27:36

So when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allāh has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift.

And as stated in the below verse ,the true Rejoice is in Allahs bounty and HIS Mercy...Let us rejoic

Subhan’Allah. This is so fascinating, only if we think deeply. If there were no time limitation in any examination, surely the entire system of assessment, academics, and learning would be in vain. Similarly, if death were not created and humans became immortal, just think where our accountability, values, and morality would be directed. Even in today’s world, despite knowing the inevitability of death, people are reckless and heedless. Also, if we judge people by their deeds—and deeds are judged by their intention, whether with sincerity or for commercial purposes - we can differentiate the individual. Allah has depicted the same reality with beautiful articulation. Probably that is the rea
