FAQ

Can I participate?

Any writer* who identifies as 2SLGBTQIA+ can participate in the event. The specific label of Queer does not have to apply to you.

If you’re a cisgender & heterosexual writer with a queer story/characters, this pitch event is not for you.

*We also ask that industry professionals refrain from pitching.

Does my story have to align with my identity?

No.  Your story does not have to center queer themes or issues or 2SLGBTQIA+ characters for you to participate.

Your identity will also not be policed by anybody at any point.

So I don’t have to disclose my identity?

If you want to disclose your identity, please do so, but it is absolutely not required.

If any agent/editor requires this of you: run.

Can I post moodboards or character art, and

can I get creative?

Yes!

As of 2025, to level the playing field, we’re encouraging all #QueerPit participants to post their beautiful art in whatever form they prefer.

You can use more creative form pitches (recipe, NotesApp apology, bullet-point emojis, etc.) if you so choose.

I’m confused. Explain in simpler terms?

Starting with the fourth edition of QueerPit in 2026, we’re making July 1st our regular annual event date, from 8am—8pm EST on Twitter (X) and BlueSky. You can use online tools to convert to your timezone.

#QueerPit follows similar rules as any other pitch event: You may only pitch a certain amount of completed, query-ready manuscripts (3) a certain amount of times (4 per manuscript) in the given time slot on the day. You can only pitch once per hour. That means pitches max out at 12 total, spread out across the 12 hour runtime of the event.

A pitch, in this case, is a tweet-length ad for your manuscript using appropriate hashtags. You can find these hashtags here.

Industry professionals will peruse the hashtag and like (♡) projects they would like to see submitted to them. Writer replies & reposts are welcome. Guidelines for submission will vary from agent to agent, so check out their profiles when you receive a ♡.

Vet any and all industry professionals before submitting materials to them!!!
