Poor boy-cat started getting sick last night and bringing up lumps of hair. He's a bit off-colour today but he's been eating a bit so hopefully I don't have to start worrying about blockages in his guts. Will keep an eye on him to make sure he's okay, though. Poor, poor cat.

My family is starting the process of adopting a couple of cats. Okay, it's mainly me that's pushing for this, but my parents are on board and are looking forward to the possibility of having a couple of lap-warmers around the house.

I've contacted a local cat sanctuary and they're going to be arranging a home-check visit to see if our home is suitable. All going well, we'll be approved and the proud owners of either a 6 month old brother/sister duo or an 18 month old brother/sister duo. All four have been vaccinated and neutered.

I guess I just wanted to ask the cat owners on my flist for advice regarding things that I need to buy for the cats. We haven't owned a cat in many, many years because we had a dog that lived to 17 and the cats we had before her were never really house cats. I'm planning on keeping these cats indoors at all times because we live on a semi-busy road where traffic is doing up to 50km/h (30mph).

I've thought of stuff like a cat carrier (do I need 2 or can cats share?), food and water bowls, toys, litter tray, scratching post and some kind of bed. I'm sure there's lots of stuff that I haven't thought of and that's why I'm asking you, marvellous flist. Also, is there anything I have to do to cat-proof the house? We live in a bungalow so are there any special precautions I should be taking to make sure the cats can't escape outside where they'd possibly get run over?

I got this game for my birthday and man, is it making me sweat! I've only used it twice so far but I'm really loving it. You can use 2 Wii remotes so it actually knows what both of your hands are doing, unlike other games I've played (like Just Dance 2) where the computer kinda guesses where you're flailing at with your left hand.

I'm not sold on the world map yet (you exercise and it gets converted to miles you've walked across the globe). I started off in London and after 2 nights (maybe 30-40 mins of total exercise) I've managed to walk over to Athens and am walking back towards Italy. It's kinda fun but I can imagine that it would get annoying if you were only doing short exercises. The map pops up after every exercise you complete and if you manage to make it to a checkpoint you get some 'fun' trivia about the city you're in.

All in all, it's keeping me quite entertained and sweaty so I guess it's doing what it's supposed to!

Jedward got through to the Eurovision final on Saturday night. I kinda feel like I should apologise to the rest of Europe...

Though I really hope they manage to reign in the backing singers a bit on the night. They were less backing, more singing at times.

And, especially for poor tanisafan - who has this song stuck in her head - the performance from tonight!

It's the 1st of May! This means at least 3 things to me (well, really it means 5 but one's slightly depressing and the other doesn't matter when I'm not working).

Here in Ireland, it means it's the first day of summer. Woohoo! (Yeah, our seasons make no sense if you think about them too much. Shh, tell no one.)

It is also the fantabulous tanisafan's birthday. Happy birthday, bb! *twirls you hardcore*

I got a kindle recently so this is me testing how easy it is to post to LJ with it. Load times are kind of horrible but other that that it seems okay so far. Wouldn't want to be checking my flist, though - it would probably freeze up.

Semi-annual hair debate

I'm going to get my hair cut up short again (currently it's about 3 inches below my shoulders) but I don't know what style to get done. I'm leaning towards getting it cut extremely short but I'm useless at picking a cut to get done.

Any suggestions? I have a round face shape, which apparently means I need to be careful getting short hairstyles.

I kind of like the look of this but I don't know the first thing about keeping my hair styled once it's been cut.

Help?
