Character: Nepeta Leijon
Series: Homestuck
Deviance: 1
Age: 13
Gender: Female
Species: Troll
Canon Used: Homestuck, webcomic
Appearance:
The separation of adults and children means that trolls have no natural definition or ideas of family. The closest they come is their connection with their lusus: the native wildlife of Alternia, lusii are sentient animals that are assigned to raise grubs once they've completed their first set of trials. Possibly the largest influence on her personality and behavior was her guardian Pounce de Leon, a massive, two-mouthed feline.
Nepeta grew up in the wilderness of Alternia, and this made her fairly self-sufficient. She's not afraid of taking care of herself, or the threat of violence; on Alternia, pretty much all of the wildlife is both huge and carnivorous, and Nepeta's been hunting down the wildlife regularly and successfully since she was a small child. Growing up with Pounce de Leon also gave her a healthy love of all things cute, especially cats; she's made a partial cat fursuit out of pelts, she peppers her speech and typing with cats, and she actively purrtends to be a cat in all but the most serious of situations. Nepeta may kill large, furry animals on a daily basis, but that's a relatively small part of her character; mostly, she's still just a thirteen year old kid.
Nepeta is one of the nicest trolls, and this is linked to the fact she's also one of the most social; she wants to know people, yes, but more importantly, she wants them to like her. Even characters that she's terrified of or dislikes, such as Vriska, she still attempts to be pleasant and engage them; she's willing to talk to and even roleplay with Vriska, though the attempt doesn't last long. She doesn't always have a positive opinion of everyone, but she's shown to be willing to give most people a chance despite that and despite warnings she may've been given. Nepeta is a natural optimist, and she really believes that everything will turn out for the best in relationships and real life, often to the point of naivety.
Nepeta has two main interests, and they're basically linked: romance and shipping, namely shipping her friends together. Nepeta's considered weird both of these, but what makes it worse is her quirk about romance. While troll romance consists of pity-based and hate-based relationships, she's completely disinterested in the hate aspect. She focuses instead on the pity-based love, which consists of matesprits (romantic, sexual love) and moirails, who are essentially platonic soulmates. This in itself probably wouldn't be too strange, but she keeps track of all of her friends matesprits and moirails on a shipping wall in her home -- ranging from genuine relationships to completely implausible ones, all drawn in loving, bloody detail.
Nepeta's intense love of pity-based relationships likely springs from the fact she's partially defined by one; she and her moirail, Equius, are considered pretty much the canon definition of the quadrant. Moirails are literally thought to be soulmates, in every definition of the word; they complete each other, evening out their faults and allowing more dangerous or passive trolls to become functional members of society, and are thought to be destined ~by fate~. In a lot of ways, Nepeta is the primary partner in their relationship, calming and pacifing Equius so that he doesn't give in to the aggression that comes with a higher blood caste, along with allowing him interactions with someone who can better handle his strength.
Equius does, however, have an equal effect on her. Nepeta is shown to be brash repeatedly through canon, quick to give in to emotional whims; when she realises Equius is dead, she attacks Gamzee with little thought beyond the immediate gratification of revenge, and she's never shown to be one to deeply contemplate her own or anyone else's actions beyond the romantic implications. Just as she makes him more passive, Equius makes Nepeta more cautious; it's his judgement that ultimately keeps her out of the FLarp games that maim and kill several of their friends, and his intense focus on troll social norms serves to counteract her own complete disregard of them, and presumably keep her being culled. They're both aware of the effect they have on each other, which shows primarily in Nepeta's behaviour towards him. Even when his orders go directly against her own personal interests, such as when she wanted to join the red team, she generally follows them, knowing they're in her best overall interest.
tl;dr: Nepeta is a cheerful, fairly naive girl who loves her friends and is immensely loyal, and she's also a brutal, highly self-sufficient hunter who'll cut your shit up. hth!Other Skills/Abilities:
Along with that, Nepeta is still physically a child. She's pretty darn strong and is fairly tough, but most importantly, she's a skinny adolescent who hasn't finished growing. If it comes down to a brawl with a healthy, athletic adult, they're always going to outlast her when it comes to endurance.
Her third major weakness is entirely mental; she's not very mature, especially in comparison to her peers, and she tends to let her emotions take control of her, often to the detriment of her physical abilities. At one point in her canon, her moirail is murdered by Gamzee, one of her friends who's never fought before but is shown to be of equal strength. When she jumps in to avenge her moirail and he is actually not only able to meet her attack, but partially deflect it, she lets her surprise get the best of her -- and subsequently ends up killed.
Nocturnal -- on Alternia, the trolls home planet, the sun is extremely harsh and tends to blind and eventually kill anyone unfortunate enough to be trapped in it. Trolls are a nocturnal race, and Nepeta is used to the constant darkness of night. Normal daylight and flashlights wouldn't incapacitate her, but she wouldn't be able to see any better than your average human at night -- and she'd get one hell of a headache in the process.History:
Deviance one, so her history is all identical to the ==Biography== partition on this. Nothing is actually known about her past, prior to the start of the game and thus the start of the comic; it's implied she and Equius have been moirails for the majority of their life, but that's about it.
Canon Point: After Vriska's death; Nepeta's been in the dream-bubbles for a few hours by this point.

Appearance:
Nepeta is tiny for a thirteen year old and skinny; constant physical activity and a high protein diet means that she has extremely defined abs and equally defined bones. Her clothing is oversized, slightly ratty hand-me-downs from Pounce's last charge, with the exception of her hat; it's hand-made and fits pretty much purrfectly.
Her skin is gray, and her hair is cut short into a bob with two long pieces that frame her face and swoop back behind her ears. She has two candycorn-colored horns that resemble cat ears at the top of her head, and her nails are more like bright yellow talons.
She always vaguely smells unpleasantly like dead animals and the trash that you keep meaning to throw out, because she's a crazy feral catgirl and bathing is pretty much bottom of her priorities.

Psychology:
Firstly, Nepeta is a troll: an alien species that superficially resembles humans, but is known for it's extremely aggressive and militant culture. Trolls are highly aggressive towards everything and everyone, including themselves; adults and children are separated, and children are placed through rigorous tests, with failed infants being consumed by the population at large. Older children who exhibit weakness, mutations, or just fail to conform are simply killed.

Nepeta is pretty crafty for a thirteen year old kid, and she knows how to skin animals with very little difficulties. She is also an artiste, although her art mostly consists of stick figures .
Nepeta is also one of the strongest members of the group, possibly only second to Equius. She's capable of taking down massive hoofbeasts and predators on a regular basis; more importantly, she's capable of regularly tackle-pouncing Equius, a troll who bruises others just by touching them, and escapes with absolutely no damage to herself.
Trolls in general are implied to be tougher than humans, though this likely is not to an absurd degree; their skin is moderately thicker, with humans regularly being referred to as having "weak pink flesh", and they're capable of seeing in various levels of darkness.

Other Weaknesses:
Nepeta is pretty tough, but she's still a thirteen year old kid! It's stated several times throughout the comic that aggression is linked to caste, and Nepeta is pretty much in the middle; as such, even though trolls are naturally aggressive, Nepeta would hesitate before seriously hurting another individual. Actually having to murder another individual, if she could go through with it, would probably be more than slightly traumatising. She'd still do it, if given enough incentive, but it'd have to be one heck of an incentive.

Canon Point: After Vriska's death; Nepeta's been in the dream-bubbles for a few hours by this point.
Reality Description:
Nepeta is currently dead! On the living side of things, all of the trolls still alive are stuck in the Veil, a massive asteroid filled with tunnels. There's computer monitors that have various programs on them and allow internet connection to Earth's world wide web and presumably Alternia's too. There's also living quarters for each of the trolls and random piles of shit associated with each everywhere.
This is not really relevant to Nepeta, though. As a ghost, she's stuck in the Farthest Ring, a space outside of any universe. From there, she's capable of entering and exiting any available dream-bubbles. Dream-bubbles are created when a person dies, and this bubble is filled with their memories, where they're capable of manipulating events in it to a certain extent. It's as big and as detailed as they want it to be. Dream bubbles can be actively controlled by anyone in them, if they know how to.
Nepeta's dream bubble consists of two main locales:
Alternia! It's a huge planet where the sun will kill you and so will everything else. Nepeta's particular corner is out on the edges of the mountains, with both a forest and a plain within three hours walk. There's not actually a ton of information about it in canon, weirdly enough, but we can knock up some head-canon if the need arises!
The Land Of Little Cubes And Tea: This is essentially a huge desert made of sugar. Massive, sugary plateaus and pillars topped with tea cups decorate the horizon, and it's pretty much always blazingly hot. The sky is an unchanging shade of yellow, with relatively few clouds in the sky.
You will not find the Veil (described above!) in her dream-bubble except for rare occasions where she 1) gets flustered / upset and loses control over it, or 2) someone changes it for her.
Dream bubbles can be left at any point, but traversing them can be difficult. Any of her dead cast members can have their dream bubbles entered, but pretty much every character has died in one doomed timeline or another and every doomed timeline generates dream-bubbles, so just ask if you want to know about any other specific one!
