Who: Mag and Lorna
What: Dinner, presents, daddy-daughter bonding time
When: Evening
Where: The dread House of M
Warnings: Probably not.
Magnus had picked out gifts for his children with care. Billy's gifts were easy - the boy picked out most of his own, although Magnus had surprised him with a few.
Wanda's were the most difficult, but he'd managed to find a couple things he hoped she'd like.
Pietro had been easy, at least from an idea stand point. Books, nearly a two dozen, most needing some amount of translation, so the dictionaries to go with them, all very long. Some where fiction, some where not, and he tried to not have all of them be topics on Israel or Judaism, although some where. One was a memoir by a contemporary of his, and while it mentioned him, it did not do so by name, and he doubted Pietro had ever paid enough attention to his tattoo to recognize it. There were also puzzles. Nearly three dozen. All 3D, all with a guarantee of several dozen ways EACH could be reset. All externally difficult. Some where like Rubik cubes, only fractal shapes, rather than a simple cube. Some appeared to be a jumbled mess of sticks, but assembled into a complex, airy shape. He hoped they would get Pietro some break from the boredom, if only for a few days.
Lorna had been a bit difficult, but as she claimed to like all presents, he'd tried to pick pretty things but also something she could have a certain amount of enjoyment out of that his other children might not, even if it would be after he'd found a way to fix her powers. He'd picked up a Hebrew house blessing, both for the blessing and for it's beauty - hand painting such as this was becoming a lost art with the advent of computer art; a silver candy dish which resembled an arty crumbled piece of lace, given their discussion on making things, he thought she might like it; a few oil burning candles, hand craved and colored, along with oil and replacement wicks; a kaleidoscope, with disks that could be interchanged, with brass tubing and real silver mirrors inside; a gold plated teleidoscope - the last two where really toys for grown-ups, but he found them pretty and somewhat entertaining, and finally, remembering her degree, a small padded pouch containing native stone, some rough, some polished, along with a packet of rock polishing cloths. Some might need a tumbler, he'd been warned, but they could make one if so.
He'd wrapped the gifts in the hotel room at night, often watching Billy sleep across the room. It had made him feel good, grounded, human in a way he'd thought he'd lost so long ago when Magda left him.
Since Lorna was due for dinner soon, he'd finished setting the 'table' in the breakfast nook, and stacked her presents on the bench near by.
