Textures and custom shapes: PSE 5.0

I'm so glad I found this community, most tutorials aren't compatible.
I don't know why, but I cannot get textures online. When I go to load textures, they don't show up as they're not .PSD.
Is there any way to convert them? Is there any place to get .PSD textures?

Also, my custom shapes are in the right format but I can't access them. Help?
