So yesterday I made this massive Glee season 2 picspam! I posted it on tumblr but it had to reduce in size like craaaazy and thus didn't have the full effect. Plus, I miss LJ picspamming. And LJ in general. So here it is. I... may have gone a bit nuts with the saturation tool. (Other exciting activities yesterday: baking peanut butter cookies, watching the Vampire Diaries, doing a load of laundry. My life, ladies and gentlemen.)

I feel like I should back this up with meta, or at least thoughts. Because I actually have *feelings* about this show that amount to more than "LOL GLEE".

Um: the Christmas ep was awful, Darren Criss has a magical face, Hummelberry is truly the best thing about this season so far, Artie/Brittany makes me die inside, season 2 has been stronger thus far because of the lack of focus on Will's love life and/or rapping career, Kurt needs to transfer back to McKinley asap and bring Blaine with him, I couldn't care LESS about Finn/Rachel drama omg, Santana is perfect, Mike Chang has lines now and it is amazing and the Britney/Rocky Horror episodes were stupid and yet better than "Funk".

And here are the six words I thought I'd never say about Glee: COME BACK SHOW, I MISS YOU.

Other news! The King's Speech was absolutely perfect, and if Colin Firth doesn't win all the awards ever I will be personally insulted. Do yourselves a favor and go and see it, and BASK in its glory.

Doctor Who Christmas Special was beautiful and magical and not without its problems, but I don't really care because omg, Moffat's show is so much better than RTD's I can't even BEGIN, lol. (COMPARE AND CONTRAST WITH THE END OF TIME, AHAHAHAH. Oh David Tennant, I was rooting for you! It's such a shame your character got more and more douchey and ridiculous and then got that ending, lol.) But who really cares, because Matt Smith is now in our lives and all is good and well. Next season: moar River, scary looking dolls, NEIL GAIMAN, Utah desert, Matt Smith with a beard. SEASON 6, I AM SO ONBOARD.

I'm watching the Vampire Dairies, which is good fun. I love Bonnie, I like Stefan and Elena, and I lol endlessly at the fact that Ian Somerholder is more shirtless in this than in LOST where he was on a beach all the time.

Work is busy! I start breakfasts as of next tuesday, which means 5am starts. SOMEBODY KILL ME PLEASE.

YOU GUYS HP7. I went to a midnight session last night, which was a total geekfest omg. Nearly everyone in the cinema dressed up in some way (I wore this t-shirt and a pair of lightening bolt earrings) and when we took photos instead of saying cheese we yelled HERMIONE CAN'T DRAW, lol. The cinema was PACKED there was much cheering when it started, and, well.

1. The kids' acting was brilliant, seriously, I've given Emma Watson and DanRad so much shit in the past for their EYEBROW ACTING (whereas Rupert has always been flawless ok) but omg everyone was soooo good. The Harry/Ron argument scene, argh! Harry and Hermione at the graveyard! Hermione being tortured! a;skj;fa also everything ever. The entire movie is basically just the three of them, and they hold it so, so well. OH KIDS.

2. For the first time in a HP movie, I felt a real sense of the trio that the books always had. It wasn't just Harry and Hermione (plus Ron), it was Harry and Ron and Hermione. Their friendship is my favourite part and my biggest critisism of the films has always been the weakening of the trio's importance to the whole thing, and this time they finally got it right.

3. RONALD WEASLEY YOU ARE MY FAVOURITE FOREVER AND ONE DAY I WILL TAKE TO THE STREETS AND WRITE AGGRESSIVE META ABOUT ALL THE HATE YOU GET. Weasley is my king, haters can go fuck themselves and we should just take all the awards and give them to Rupert Grint. (And Ron/Hermione, omg. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3)

4. IT WAS REALLY SCARY. The bit with the snake, yikes. The death eaters carrying dead children. The Muggle Studies teacher hanging over the table.

5. I feel deeply cheated by the lack of Deadbeat Dad Remus Lupin, hanging out at his dead boyfriend's house. The most lolarious part of the book and I didn't get to see it in the movie, woe.

6. Neville! Even if it was two seconds of Neville, I appreciated it.

7. Ginny and Harry remain weird and lulzy and totally not shippable in the movies. Speaking of unintentionally lulzy scenes, NAKED SHINY HARRY AND HERMIONE GROSSSSSSSSSSSS. Lol I nearly yelled out "KILL IT ALREADY RON". Poor Harry, he is doomed to have no chemistry with anyone in a romantic sense.

8. Ahahahhaha the seven Potters scene, so much lulz. "Look away, I'm hideous!" Four for you, DanRad.

9. Was it just me or was Snape's hair all PANTENE PRO V instead of greasy mop? There was some serious shine and bounce to those locks when he was walking to Malfoy Manor. Speaking of which, NO PEACOCKS BOOOOOO.

10. Lol, Dobby made me cry like a bitch. I sobbed! Sobbed! There was a group of people in the cinema who would cheer every time he came on screen and I think this contributed to my utter, utter grief when he died. He was so precious omg. :(

So yeah, it was a great film. I walked away from it tired, emotionally wrought and extremely entertained.

I wish I had more cohesive thoughts! I'm off to see it again in a couple of hours (lol) so I may have more things to say about it then, who knows. I AM GOING TO CRY SO HARD WHEN PART 2 ROLLS ALONG.

Hating this series of Doctor Who? I have a simple solution: DON'T WATCH IT. It's not that hard, omg. I did the same thing last year! I still haven't seen End of Time and Waters of Mars! That's at least a good hour and a half of time I used doing things I actually enjoy! It saves negativity! I've become a recent believer in positive energy and seriously, all that negativity can't do you good. So, if you don't like it anymore don't keep watching it. Crack open your s1-4 dvds and enjoy the version of the show that you do love, and save the negativity for something worthwhile like Glenn Beck.

Just a quick note to let you all know that yes, I am still alive. I'm mostly hanging out at twitter (@prettyquotable) and tumblr (whatkindofday) these days so! If you have either of those and I'm not following you DO TELL ME SO WE CAN HANG OUT THERE TOGETHER. But nonetheless I still check my flist regularly, and try and comment though I'm pretty much out of the loop with everything (I haven't seen Merlin since 2x04 because I was so appalled at how they ruined my OTP with crappy dialogue, lol) and I still love you all to pieces!

Some fannish thoughts!

- I'm pretty excited about S5 of DW, and you can probably count on me updating my LJ properly when that finally rolls around. MATT SMITH I LOVE YOU ALREADY AND KAREN HAS A PRECIOUS SCOTTISH ACCENT AND AMAZING LEGS AND I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE WEEKS AND WEEKS OF WANK THAT WILL EVENTUATE OMG. PLUS THERE IS A RICHARD CURTIS PENNED EPISODE AND OH YEAH, NO MORE RUSTY AND TEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! End of Time made me want to kill myself, btw. I WASH MY HANDS OF YOU, RUSSELL T. DAVIES. Moff. Time. Now! THANK CHRIST. :D

- Idol Fandom is full of douchebags so I mostly ignore it and just try and be the best (and sanest) stan of both Adam and Kris that I can be? I'm kind of living in sad, ridiculous hope that Adam will be GaGa's Australian support act, though! HIS ALBUM IS RELEASED HERE IN MARCH AND THAT'S WHEN SHE'S GOING TO BE HERE OKAY. It could happen? But probably not. Also, Kris Allen is like, within my hemisphere and I can't see him and it's very, very sad. COME TO AUSTRALIA, KRIS, WE HAVE ALL THE KOALAS YOU COULD EVER WANT.

- 30 Rock, Community and Modern Family are all solid win every week. Modern Family is my favourite thing ever, and sorry Glee fans but FUCK THAT SHIT GLEE IS IN NO WAY BETTER THAN MODERN FAMILY OKAY. Having said that, i did enjoy the midseason finale, because Rachel Berry = <3.

- If Avatar wins best picture at the Oscars I am going to cry/scream/vomit.

I watched all of both True Blood and Mad Men and am itching for MORE of both so hard omg. Some spoilery thoughts:

True Blood: LOL OKAY YOU WIN FANDOM I LOVE ERIC -- but not Sookie/Eric (yawn), or Sookie/Bill (ew). I don't really ship in True Blood, except for Eric/Godric because apparently I've become a slasher? Also Jason is my favourite character and his born-again storyline was the best part of S2, imo. Season 3 now please!

Mad Men! Let's face it, this is pretty much the best TV show ever, right? Peggy Olson is my hero, Betty Draper is fierce, and Joan Holloway is so amazing I can't even. I love the women in this show, so fucking much. I love how they're on the verge of something bigger all the time? Like you want to jump into the TV and scream "YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS!" a lot of the time, haha. Nobody in this show is black and white, everyone has things to like and dislike about them - hell, season 2 even made me like Pete Campbell - and it's just. so. good. But needs moar Sal. :(

OH AND IF YOU WANT TO COME FLAIL WITH ME ABOUT THE SEASON 3 FINALE FEEL FREE TO DO SO IN THE COMMENTS. OMG. OMG. OMG. STERLING COOPER DRAPER PRICE INDEED.

Oh my god, how is she so amazing/talented/batshit insane/brilliant/bizarre/compelling/epic? To quote Adam Lambert, this video just melted my brain. If you are one of those people who thinks GaGa is just another pop musician, sorry about your life. I mean, I totally understand finding her offputting or not getting what she does or just not enjoying her music, but to actually suggest she's in the same box as Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne? Clearly you aren't paying attention to anything she has ever done. D: GaGa is her own box. GaGa is MARVELOUS.

In other news:

- Kris Allen's album is a thing of beauty. Favourite tracks: The Truth, Can't Stay Away, Alright With Me, I Need to Know and I may be the only person to think so, but Heartless. (That version is sexy as hell. His gravelly voice omgggg). Alright With Me is the catchiest thing ever written! I want to dance around and smile the whole time while listening to it. So you should all go and buy the album on iTunes right now okay thank you.

- New Robbie happened! I've been kind of behind on my Robbie stanning, but omg. This album. All the tracks are amazing -seriously, I think this album might be better than Escapology- and Blasphemy may be my new favourite Robbie Williams song ever.

- While we're on the topic of music, Adam Lambert's single is GLORIOUS and hilarious and wonderful and about kinky gay sex, and I love him for it. I've also come to terms with the cover art for his album (while still finding it hilarious hahahahhaha omg Adam) because he looks like David Bowie's lovechild with a peacock. In space. With glitter. And airbrushing. Either way I'm really glad the record execs are letting him do his thang. Oh Adam. <3

- Community and Modern Family are my favourite things ever right now. Annie/Troy and Cameron/Mitchell are my new ships! Yay! Also, Joel McHale needs to take off his shirt more often.

OKAY SO UNPOPULAR OPINION TIME: LAST WEEK'S EPISODE BORED ME TO TEARS. Which is why I didn't want to update about it because there was no way I was killing all your buzz, haha. As we've discussed before, Arthur and Guinevere do nothing for me. Even in the midst of a blatantly ripped-off Knight's Tale plotline.

BUT OH OH OH THIS EPISODE WAS AMAZING. Morgana ~embracing her magic~ was pretty fucking epic. Hiiii, Druids, who are so awesome. I love the whole magic = nature thing. And HUSTON, WE HAVE A NEW SHIP. So, that was kind of lovely, wasn't it? I'm so charmed by this show, I can't even begin.

KURT. KURT KURT KURT KURT KURT. ILUUUU. <3 NEGL, I TEARED UP AT THE END. He is so precious and wonderful and I just, gah. GAH. I love how this episode showed that even when it's blindingly obvious to the world, coming out is really hard, you know? Like, he wasn't all "oh sweetie, couldn't you tell I love the peen by my fabulous clothes?" He's this teenager who's still coming to terms with himself as a person. I LOVE THIS SHOW AND ITS UNEXPECTED LAYERS.

But yeah, I've realised I love all snarky, unsure, heart-of-gold gay teenage boys in television. Marshall in the United States of Tara, Eric in Gossip Girl, and now Kurt. IN FACT, SOMEONE SHOULD WRITE KURT/ERIC. JUST BECAUSE. THE GLEE CLUB FINALS ARE IN NYC THIS YEAR AND LILY IS THERE FOR SOME REASON AND BRINGS ALONG THE KIDS. AND THEY MEET AT THE PARTY AND KURT IS ALL "OH HEY, THERE'S SERENA VAN DER WOODSEN. HOW CAN ONE PERSON BE SO FABULOUS?" AND THEN ERIC IS LIKE "OH THAT'S MY BIG SISTER. BOY DO I HAVE STORIES TO TELL YOU." AND THE REST IS HISTORY. See, perfection.

But yeah, I hope the writers don't go the route of GG and just be like "well, we've established that this character is gay and is having a hard time coming to terms with himself, so let's forget he exists, save for comic relief and the occasional mention of a love interest." But I doubt this will happen, because Glee >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gossip Girl. (Although I do love me some Upper East Siders.)

OH HOW I ADORE WILL!!!!!!!!!! And hahahahha that whole storyline with the boy band was so so funny. Josh Groban! Haha, Sandy: "You don't know Josh Groban? KILL YOURSELF." Hahahahhaahahhahaha. Amazing. Also I'm growing to really like Ken, lol. And I'm not really feeling the Will/Emma that much, which is weird. I don't know, I have sympathy for Terri, which I really have no idea where it comes from. I can see her becoming a more layered character.

Ummm, what else. Rachel and Finn make my heart sing! When they look at each other, omg. The whole choir coach thing was TOTALLY RIPPED OFF FROM BRING IT ON, and didn't impress me, but the "YOU'RE FREAKISHLY TALL" thing did make me lol. Oh, and best line of the entire episode goes to Sandy and his mention of writing Desperate Housewives fanfiction to keep his creative outlet going. PURE GOLD.

I had more thoughts but I had some wine after work tonight and can't remember what else, haha. Basically: Oh this show. I am in love, and there have only been three episodes. THANK GOODNESS FOR SCRIPTED TELEVISION BEING BACK IN MY LIFE.

ETA: Omg Puck! Hahaha he is hilarious and I really hope we'll see more of him in the future. I mean, it's pretty much a given he's going to join Glee Club.

SO. I figured it was time I updated.

Quick me update: I spend most of my life either asleep or at work. I'm loving work (seriously, cooking for a living is THE BOMB) but it's so draining. Emotionally right now I am not so great, I've had some shitty personal stuff happen in the past two days and everything is making me want to cry, lol. BUT LET'S NOT DWELL ON THAT and rather get back to what I do best: make picspams. Except this is not a picspam, but rather two sets of pictures that made me emotional today.

Reading: Curtis Sittenfeld's American Wife, which is based on the life of Laura Bush. It's fabulous so far but I never have time to actually read it, so I'm slowly plodding through. Man, I need to update my Goodreads but I'm embarrassed that I haven't finished a book since Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
Working on: assorted American Idol fanfics I'll never post, learning to drive, time management, bettering myself.
Loving: AI fandom, although my work hours make me out of the loop so I've basically become a lurker, woe. Also: rl friends, Twitter, days off work, Eric Van Der Woodsen, shopping, my little brother, themed birthday parties, the Fantastic Mr. Fox trailer, my career choice, Allison Iraheta's hair.
Needing: A holiday. More Gossip Girl. A West Wing rewatch. Also, Kris Allen in glitter eyeshadow, Adam's boots and angel wings.
Hoping: I don't have to work seven days in a row next week.

OMG SO. I went into one of those updating ruts again, and I am PUTTING A STOP TO THAT. Only because I've been awake for close to 20 hours and I worked for 14 of those and I only had five hours sleep last night and right now I am BORDERING ON DELIRIOUS with a side order of FUCKING COLD. A couple of things to say:

- No Torchwood thoughts, as I haven't seen any yet. Waiting for my RL Torchwood buddy to watch it with me. Friday. And there will be plenty to watch, then! I promise I will comment on everyone's entries and FLAIL because no doubt there will be much Gwen/Ianto interaction, and we all know how I feel about that. NEW CANON, YAY. Plus, Eve Myles on my screen again! Oh, Gwen Cooper. <3

- Oh, boy. The Idol tour is going to be the death of me. Between Adam singing BOWIE OMG (and call me a bad fan or whatever but fucking hell I love that electronica version of "Let's Dance" sfm) and Kris doing Matchbox 20's most gorgeous song ever omg (rocking out with the guitarist!!! also god Kris Allen how are you so perfect) and Allison being the fierce bb that she is (I've decided I'm going to dye my hair red and grow it out to look like hers, um?), I am going to die of overwhelming delight or something. Also, Adam's most recent succession of tweets made me laugh so hard:

But still, I love that Adam was bored on the bus (clearly Kris was asleep or on the phone with Katy therefore not there to entertain bb Adam) and tweeted pretty much more than he ever did before, lol. - Started watching Gossip Girl the other week and am enjoying it imensley, in all its excessive crapness. Serena is my faaaaaaavourite. But yeah, it's really terrible, and yet also glorious? Like, Blair catching a private helicopter to France? Yeah, I'm just a teenage girl but I'll just POP INTO MY HELICOPTER SO I CAN SEE MY DAD IN FRANCE. Haha it's such a silly show. But then there are episodes like "Blair Waldorf Must Pie" and that Christmas one and I think hey, maybe it is a good show? BUT THEN DAWN SUMMERS SHOWS UP AND UGH MICHELLE TRACHENBURG JUST PLEASE DIE IN A HOLE.

OH GOD, I DON'T KNOW. Help me.

1. General: Star Wars > Star Trek. Forever and ever amen.
2. Merlin: Arthur/Merlin bores me. I don't understand Arthur/Gwen. Gwen/Morgana is where it's at, but let's face it, the only One True Pairing in Arthurian legend, even bastardized Arthurian legend, is Guinevere/Lancelot. Also, this cannot possibly be an unpopular opinion but I'll state it anyway: Katie McGrath is the most stunningly beautiful woman in the world. She does wacky, wacky things to my Kinsey scale.
3. The West Wing: I really don't like Amy Gardner. I try, I do, but she mostly seems obnoxious and/or stoned most of the time.
4. BSG: Lol this show takes itself way too seriously. I'm about a third into S4 right now and am just SCREAMING OUT for a light episode. It's just so SRS BNS all the time. I mean, I enjoy the show a lot and it is seriously brilliant television but come on. Just because it's sci-fi doesn't mean it has to be serious. Doctor Who had "Love and Monsters", The X-Files had "Bad Blood". LIGHTEN UP, SHOW WITH PRETTY PILOTS.
5. UM WHAT ELSE. I know! I hate the pretentious masturbatory self-indulgent pseudo-goth fuckery that is the joint cinematic efforts of Burton/Depp/HBC. Separately I quite like them. But together? No thank you!
(A bonus one: I've never been able to sit through a full episode of Supernatural. Bad, bad acting! Bad, bad scripts! Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad sexist fail.)

SO. I saw Mulholland Drive for the very first time the other day. I'll let David Cross sum up my reaction:

LOL SERIOUSLY WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED IN THAT MOVIE. I even went to the wikipedia page looking for answers but none came. I'm still confused. So very, very confused. I just.. no words. What the fucking fuck was that even about. Maybe it makes sense while stoned?

Forcing myself to update because hey, it's been three weeks or something which is RIDICULOUS considering the amount of stuff that's happened. It's just that I got stuck in a cycle of NOT UPDATING and then I just... didn't update and kept not updating or commenting to the point where it was like "HI LJ WHAT'S THE POINT ANYMORE EXCECPT FOR ONTD_AI" but I'm updating now, which hopefully will force me back into livejournaling and commenting because seriously, I miss you guys and if I don't use a period soon I will go crosseyed. There. That felt good.

SO. THINGS TO DISCUSS.

1. Ashes to Ashes finale! Was epic! And restored my ever-so-slightly faded love for the show! CHRIS AND SHAZ SHUT UP YOU ARE MY OTP SORRY ALEX AND GENE BUT THEY WIN FOREVER AND EVER. I actually cried when they got back together, ngl. And LOLOLOLWHUT AT THAT ENDING OMG ALEX YOU ARE CRAZYPANTS AND I LOVE YOU.

Also, Molly is D.E.A.D. SHE IS NEVER OUT OF THE SCHOOL UNIFORM. BECAUSE SHE WAS KILLED IN THAT SCHOOL UNIFORM IN THE PILOT. SEE? SEE? I really shouldn't take so much glee out of the fact that Alex's daughter is probably dead, but the theory is SO AWESOME so there. Anyway. That was wonderful and thank you television Gods for making me happy!

2. Real life! Okay, notice the time stamp on this entry? Yeah, I'm not tired. Because I spent most of the day asleep. Because my life right now consists of working from 4PM until midnight, unless it's busy in which case my working "day" could end anywhere between 1am and 2:30 am. Because I'm pretty much nocturnal right now. Night shifts suck and it's all I'm doing right now and my body clock is FUCKED. So it's 3 in the morning and I'm not tired. In fact, I'm writing American Idol RPF but let's not get into that. I'm really enjoying my job (but let us not discuss friday night and all the horrors it beheld) but the drawbacks of working a 58 hour week are not fun. And now it's the end of my weekend and I'm due back in about 13 hours and I really need to go to bed, gah. I'm hoping I can sort something out about sleeping soon because seriously, my life is so fucked up. I have no energy and I never see anyone except the people I work with. SO THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW.

(In non-work related matters, I will discuss with you all soon how American Idol has made my brother work out some interesting identity issues and become someone I really like again. But that shit is epic, epic stuff so I'll need to update separately.)

3. Idol related biz! First, #gokeyisadouche-gate made me late for work because I kept refreshing twitter and missed my bus. IDC WHAT THE IDOLS SAY,! ~NO REGRETS~. Because Adam's face in those photos broke my heart and homophobia makes me boil with rage. So Gokey definitely deserved a little twitter hate, okay.

Secondly, Kris Allen continues to be the perfect man and the Kradam bromance continues to make my world a better place. In vaguely embarassing news, I bought an awesome dress from French Connection that I couldn't really afford but had to purchase as it was ~Kradam Inspired~. (Red and black plaid! So adorable.)

4. Iran. Like, I feel bad updating about this in the midst of such a clusterfuck of an entry, and I don't really feel like I'm in a place to offer words about it, just to say that I'm horrified by what's going on over there. But I have rays of hope in humanity thanks to the movement surrounding this stuff. You're all posting really insightful, interesting, amazing things about the way these people were robbed of the democratic rights. Sometimes I just want to give up on the world but our generation? The way we're getting angry, and thinking, and doing and caring about a country that our leaders would rather we forget? It's pretty fucking awesome.

Also, if anything this past month has proved that twitter rules the universe. HATERS TO THE LEFT.

5. And finally, I'm jumping on the bandwagon and got myself a tumblr. whatkindofday, fyi. I don't really understand what's going on, but I'm sure when I'm feeling less like a zombie I'll work it out. I am predicting further development on the Gwen/Lancelot front (I mean, how could they NOT) and seriously, I'm going to die happy. OH I LOVE THEM. AND THEY'LL BE TOGETHER ON MY SCREEN AGAIN! AND SO GLORIOUSLY DOOMED. AND MAYBE SOMEONE WILL FIC THEM NOW? IDK. I AM JUST SO EXCITED.

4. My job. I'm officially doing chef shifts now, and guys. Some advice. JUST DO WHAT YOU LOVE DOING. I'm so happy at work these days, and even though the pay's not great, I'm actually enjoying the fact that in 2 hours I've got to go in and work until midnight. :D

I've come to a somewhat disturbing realisation that very little in my life right now brings me quite as much joy as American Idol does. Or more specifically, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert. (And Ryan Seacrest and his precious twitter updates, lol.) Like, this whole week I've been opening this window to update and realising that I've got nothing to say about anything? Except Kris and Adam and oh my HOLY FUCKING JESUS CHRIST THEY SANG A DUET WITH QUEEN AND BB KRIS SURPRISED US ALL AND WON AND ADAM WAS JUST SO HAPPY FOR HIM AND THEN KRIS TOTALLY FULFILLED ALL MY WISHES EVERRRR BY INTERUPTING ADAM MID-INTERVIEW FOR A GLORIOUS THREE HUGS IN 15 SECONDS. And then's the Larry King interview and Kris calling Gokey a jerk. And Adam's myspace. And Neil Lambert in all his fucking amazing glory. And lunch dates. I could keep going on and on, seriously. Or I could talk about how Ashes to Ashes has left me feeling underwhelmed lately or how I liked Star Trek but not on the epic scale everyone else seems to which makes me sad, or how every piece of Doctor Who news I hear these days makes me feel tired and depressed about the show I used to love so much. But who wants to read that? NOT ME, I CAN TELL YOU.

Idol makes me utterly, completely happy. So. ~No more shame~. I'm working on a picspam to be entitled: Let's face it: it's not as though I was particularly cool to begin with, or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love American Idol. In which I am waaaaaaay tl;dr about American Idol

SO. As you might have gleaned by now, I'm really in love with American Idol right now. And last night I was trying to put my finger on exactly why, because in general I loathe anything to do with Idol thanks to our local version which is basically just a soapbox on which racist/sexist/homophobic radio host Kyle Sandilands can be any of those three things to random people. Plus, after season 1 our country's available talent pool completely dried up. We've got a small population, okay? Five seasons of Australian Idol is four too many. And there's a new one this year, joy.

SO WHY THE SUDDEN SPREE OF IDOL LOVE? Well, it's pretty much down to Adam Lambert and Kris Allen.

Adam's 100% completely genuine and unapologetic about who he is and it's such a refreshing thing to see. He's gay, he's glittery and he's just so completely genuine and sweet and I can understand not liking him onstage but off stage? I WANT TO CUDDLE HIM AND HAVE HIM DO MY EYELINER AND HAVE HIM CALL ME SWEETIE. The fact that the American voting public has taken to him so much makes my heart swell, too! And even on Bill O'Rielly's show when he was all "IS ADAM LAMBERT GAY???" the Fox News ladies were just like "Who cares? he's awesome, and that's all that matters." And it's true. HE IS FABULOUS AND IT IS FABULOUS THAT HE'S GOT SO FAR.

And then there's Kris. Who is just. so. adorable. but also really talented too. His pre-Idol EP is excellent stuff. He's a southern small-town guy who married young, a Christian youth minister, and pretty much every definition of a good boy. Normally this would be a total turn off, but Kris is completely genuine about who he is, too, and it's so great to see. (And omg his cover of Kanye West FOR THE WIN OMG.) He's quietly wormed his way into my heart and now I think he's my favourite.

BUT THE BEST PART? IS THE PART ABOUT THEIR UNLIKELY FRIENDSHIP. The fact that they are so completely accepting of one another! And really, really like each other. I don't even remotely slash it, I just lovelovelove the way they're so bff. IT'S SO SWEET:

- They're roommates! And Kris jokes good-naturedly with a smile about all of Adam's bathroom accessories! And there are lulzy stories about bidets!
- Hugs! So many hugs!
- Kris's family loves Adam and vice versa! Apparently after the top 2 ~revelation~ show both of their mothers ran up to each other and embraced. :D
- Kris painted his thumbnail and Adam removed the polish from his so they could "carry around a piece of each other"! I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

WHICH IS WHAT MAKES THEM BEING THE FINAL TWO SO AMAZING. At this point I'm going to be really happy with either one winning, and some days I hope it's Adam and some days I hope it's Kris but in the end, KRIS AND ADAM ARE THE FINAL TWO. And I'm happy with that. So thank you, Kris Allen and Adam Lambert, for making my world a brighter place.

I can't believe I just wrote all of that. And now I'm late for work! Again! BUT IN CONCLUSION:

Okay, so it's midnight and in 8 hours I have to be at work to wash dishes because it's the worst day of the year for anyone working in the hospitality industry, aka Mother's Day. I just WOKE UP from what I thought was me going to bed. I'm about to go back and try and get at least a good 6 hours sleep or something but first I want to end the cycle of DW bitterness and incomprehensible A2A squee that's become my LJ with a little post about My Secret Shame.

It would seem that I have become rather obsessed with American Idol.

I spent my days off last week watching many, many episodes of this season and just, gah. Adam Lambert is ~fabulous~ and I really want him to win. And not only because it will piss off the Bill O'Riellys of the world but also because I adoooore his voice, which reminds me of Meat Loaf's more harmonious moments. Lol. But I ALSO LOVE KRIS? For he is sweet and humble and super pretty and can play the guitar! ANYONE BUT DANNY GOKEY, OKAY. And CAN I TELL YOU how pissed off I was about Allison going home because she was freaking awesome and I loved Cry Baby plus her duet with Adam!!!!!! She was my second favourite, bah. Also Simon, ILU so much but seriously stop praising Gokey, fucking hell.

Lol Seacrest's face in that gif is the best part, ngl. SPEAKING OF WHICH, Ryan Seacrest = ♥ AND I REFUSE TO FEEL ASHAMED. He just seems so nice or something, idk. If I were to sum him up in one word it would be "delightful". Also LOL HE IS SO GAY PLEASE STOP TRYING TO HIDE IT RYAN. His interview on Ellen the other day was supercute and also superlulzy at his awkwardness trying to talk about his latest girlfriend or whatever, haha. ELLEN IS CLEARLY ONTO THE CHARADE. Plus, he has a hilarious/shameful crush on Edward Cullen and seems to be a big Twilight fan. (LMAO.) And let's not even begin with that clip where he's gaga over Anderson Cooper, or the epic romance he seems to be having with Simon, okay?

ALEX AND GENE AND CHRIS AND RAY AND SHAZ I MISSED YOU GUYS ALL SO MUCH OMG. Especially Alex and Gene. Gah. GAH. SO MUCH FLAILAGE. Thoughts, in point form;

1. "You never talk about Mrs. Hunt, do you? The ex-Mrs. Hunt."
"That's right. I don't."

WHY DOESN'T HE? BECAUSE SHE WENT AWAY WITH THE DOCTOR FOR TIME TRAVELLING ADVENTURES, THAT'S WHY.

OH DONNA, YOU LEFT HIM BROKEN HEARTED WITH ONLY ALEX TO PICK UP THE PIECES. (But hey, I'm not complaining.)

2. Speaking of which omg! I love Alex and Gene so much and I love the way they've become more comfortable with each other? Like the beginning with the boots (heee!) because seriously, do you think Gene would lend his boots to just anyone? I DON'T THINK SO. And then there was protective!Gene in The Scene of Great WTFery which let's face it, will always make me flail, as will him calling her Alex and not Bolly or DI Drake. Plus the ending! Gah, that killed me dead with the angst. I HOPE WHATEVER HE'S UP TO IS GOOD OR I MAY DIE FROM THE HEARTACHE.

These two, I don't know. If we don't get a sex scene this season I may letterbomb the Beeb.

3. I'm beginning to develop A Thing for Gene's driving gloves. And let's leave it at that. Um.

4. Chris stripping was the most amazing thing ever. Ahahahha full monty. And he and Shaz are so so so so so cute. Also I love Ray's animosity towards Shaz, it never fails to bring the lulz.

5. The whole thing felt very LoM which threw me but IDK. I need to see more before making judgement but I WANT MY FLURO COLOURS BACK PLZ. Also the police corruption theme is all "been there, done that". HOWEVER I enjoy the intrigue it all brings.

6. Speaking of intrigue, DOCTOR DEATH WHAT THE EFF? I can only hope he brings me much Alex/Gene bondage scenes in the future.

7. Okay, so the beginning was seriously confusing and made me think of this theory of someone's I read aaaaages ago where in the end Alex will wake up from a coma in a hospital and just as she's leaving sees Gene also in the hospital as this coma patient that just woke up himself and then they are ~really together~ and silliness such as that. Secondly! BSG! OH GODS I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCHHHHHHHH. I'm too tired for detailed thoughts so have some little ones:

1. The season 2 finale was EPIC EPIC EPIC WIN. That "one year later" toooooooootally threw me and I now know where Rusty got the idea for LotTL from, lulz. Distopias are fun.

2. NOW I SEE IT, ROSLIN IS AWESOME, I TOTALLY SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHURCH OF LAURA, WHERE CAN I DONATE?

3. On the shipping front, Sharon and Helo MAKE MY HEART FLY. Six and Gaius are so incredibly wonderful and I know I should hate him but I CAN'T because of their love? Haha. Roslin and Adama have this weird quiet UST and whenever they're onscreen together I want them to be hugging and/or making out. Lee and Dee: FOR THE LOSE OMG FAIL FAIL FAIL. Starbuck and Anders: kind of awesome. Lee and Kara I've kind of lost interest in together but they haven't interacted in a while so maybe that's what I need.

4. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL FAT LEE LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

5. Starbuck with long hair: noooooooooooo so wrong. Very happy she cut it off. And her whole not!baby angst is weird and I'd like her to get past it and move on to brighter pastures, like kicking ass and taking names again.

6. PEGASUS - RESURRECTION SHIP PART 2. Holy frak, those episodes were amazing. But then they were followed by the four worst episodes ever gah. Like, seriously, CYLON BABY CURES CANCER. BLACK MARKET IS EVIL AND LEE HAS MANPAIN. STUPID STUPID STUPID EPISODE WITH "SCAR" AND STARBUCK'S ANDERS!PAIN. EVEN MORE STUPID EPISODE WHERE I HATE DEE, BILLY DIES AND THERE IS EPIC FAIL.

But then the last few episodes of S2 more than made up for it. YAY ELECTION EPISODE. Gaius was such a magnificent bastard.

7. S3 Helo looks like Dan from Sports Night, and I am enjoying it.

8. IDK what else to say because I am so tired, but yeah, this show is awesome and I resent myself for not watching it sooner. I love a show that can just rip the carpet from under your feet and change entire dynamic, and get away with it. Win!

And finally, 30 ROCK WAS THE MOST HILARIOUS THING I'VE WITNESSED IN A VERY. LONG. TIME. And Jack + Liz = <3.

Thoughts on telly what I love (and one terrible movie)

GUESS WHAT? I ACTUALLY DECIDED TO WATCH PLANET OF THE DEAD AND FOR THE MOST PART, I LOVED IT. Lady Christina was so so so so so fantastic and it was very pretty and there were FLY PEOPLE and lulz and UNIT and the Drug Lord from Ashes to Ashes and then the Doctor's all "woe is meeeee I lose everyone" and I have never wanted to reach into the monitor and punch someone as much as I did him right then. Lol. ENOUGH BI-POLAR DOCTOR, RUSTY. MOFF AND SMITH TIEM NAO.

But all in all, it was really, really fun to just enjoy Doctor Who again. Maybe it's time to do another rewatch of my favourite episodes. Or maybe just watch Genesis of the Daleks again because I love it so. DECISIONS, DECISIONS.

Also, I'm about a third into S2 of BSG and am totally hooked.

-I love: Sharon, Starbuck, Leeeeeeeeeee (♥ Bamber), Billy! Head!Six, Chief and Helo and have achieved much lulz from the fact that XENA IS IN BSG. With blonde hair and her Kiwi accent! :D

-Have yet to see why everyone wets their pants over Roslin; for now she's fairly meh to me. And as a firm believer in democracy, I'm appalled that she wields such executive power, lulz. Adama too, although I love his relationship with Lee.

-Kara/Lee OTP, fo' shiz. Also Sharon and Helo are epic and I love them.

-The Farm was such a cool/creepy episode. ME LIKEY.

-UM, WHAT ELSE. Not sure what I think about the massive religious themes but I am enjoying the nods to Greek Mythology and stuffs. The Cylons having a monolithic God is pretty cool.

-Oh, and Col. Tigh and Ellen look exactly like John and Cindy McCain and I get totally squicked whenever they makeout. THINGS I DO NOT WANT TO SEE: THAT.

I saw Twilight with some friends and HOLY JESUS THAT WAS THE WORST MOVIE I'VE SEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME. KStew and RPattz had NO CHEMISTRY and he was just so, so creepy and the only high point was, obviously, Jacob. I NEARLY WET MYSELF LAUGHING WHEN EDDIE'S SPARKLES MADE GLITTERY NOISES. Ahahahahahhahahaha you win, universe. Also: Edward's ~restraint~ face when he first sees Bella. Bwah.

Finally, SOME SHOW IS COMING BACK TOMORROW. I WONDER WHAT IT COULD BE. Oh, that's right:
