Expert Analysis
Daniel Siehndel | Prep Hoops Scout
Ray has taken a big jump, now playing against high-level competition in the EYBL, and he’s still working to fully come into his own. He would likely tell you his play hasn’t been as consistent as he’d like this spring, but he’s still shown plenty of flashes. His physical ability isn’t in question, especially coming off what he was able to do during the high school season. At this point, it’s more about finding his fit and getting comfortable alongside a strong group of elite playmakers he’s sharing the floor with. Look for Tyler’s slashing and transition game to be a focal point. This upcoming Live Period weekend is a great opportunity for Tyler, who is one of the more physical and athletic wings in the region. I expect a more productive showing from him, coming in with an attack-first mentality at EYBL Session II in Memphis.

Long, active, and explosive, Ray’s junior season may have been one of the most impressive in the state. He immediately stands out with his relentless approach as a slasher, attacking the rim without hesitation and never shying away from contact as he finishes through traffic. That aggressive mindset pairs well with a game that continues to evolve, as he’s made steady strides in both his physicality and athleticism, along with his overall skill set on the floor.
He posted averages of 14 points and just under 10 rebounds while leading MICDS to a 27–4 record and a state championship. Now, he heads into the summer looking to build on that momentum and further establish himself as a high-level prospect moving toward the next level.
If he can continue developing his perimeter shooting, he’ll have plenty of opportunities this summer to showcase himself in front of college programs and compete against top-tier talent from across the country. Don’t be surprised if Ray comes out of the summer with multiple offers as the recruiting process shifts into the fall.

MICDS capped off their state tournament run with a title, thanks in large part to the play of Tyler. In a game that was blown open by a huge third-quarter surge, Ray led the Rams offensively, finishing with a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds. His size allowed him to make an impact both from the perimeter and in transition, taking the ball end to end and finishing over defenders at the rim. Tyler fueled the MICDS run, leading an aggressive and relentless attack that gave the Rams the lead for good and allowed them to pull away in the second half.
