Today I was doing nothing I was browsing colinmorgan.com for a picture to use for my 2009 scrapbook and I found this picture. I've seen the picture before and I wanted to use it but I wanted it in colour. So I colourised it (Yes, I am Australian, we spell things with S's OK!).

I'm usually too lazy for colourisations but this way really easy. What with the dark shirt and the dark hair. Bradley would be much harder. Bloody blonds. Anyway, I used the eyedropper tool on other pictures of him to select the skin tone, hair colour and eye colour so they should all be pretty close to the real thing. I didn't do this for the lips however because every colour I selected just looked too feminine. I don't know how he makes it work but I certainly couldn't =P

If anyone wants the coloured version (the one in the middle) to use for graphics or whatever just let me know and I'll upload it somewhere. Credit for the colouring would be nice if you do use it =D

01. What are your nicknames? Sooo many. Let’s see Loz, Lozza, Renz, Renzo, Tooty, Lozenger, Gibbo…

02. How do you style your hair? I don’t. I just wash it, brush it and let it do what it wants =P

03. What's new in your life right now? Not a lot. It’s school holidays so nothing’s happening. I have discovered The Big Bang Theory though which is hilarious.

04. How many colours are you wearing now? Uhhh four. Yellow, grey, green and…denim colour.

05. Are you an introvert or extrovert? Introvert most of the time though I do have my moments.

06. What was the last book you read? The last book I read was The Crucible by Arthur Miller and now I’m reading In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O’Brian.

07. Do you nap a lot? No. Hardly ever. Only if I spent the last 24 hours on a bus or I was at a sleepover and didn’t get to sleep until 6.00am then got up at 7.00am…or something =P

08. If the person you secretly like is already taken, what would you do? Just move on.

09. Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days? The boredom associated with school holidays.

10. What's your favourite dessert? Ummm…I dunno. Chocolate? Chocolate is always good.

11. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning? It depends if I’m in a hurry or not. If I’m in a hurry I can be ready in twenty minutes but if not about 40 minutes.

12. What websites do you visit daily? LJ, tetrisfriends.com, Photobucket…

13. What classes are you taking right now? None, it’s school holidays so I’m between years…Next year I’m taking English, Math Methods, Chemistry, Biology and Accounting *nerd*

14. Do you like to clean? No. Nonono. I can do laundry or dishes or sweep the floors but I hate actual cleaning. With the scrubbing and the strong smelling products than make your hands feel all yucky.

15. What's the last song that got stuck in your head? If I Wanted to Cuddle I’d Buy a Teddy Bear by Just Surrender.

16. What's the last movie you saw? The Happening. I watched it last night and I have to say that movie is just a little bit fucked up.

17. Would you enter a relationship with your ideal partner, even if you knew he/she was seriously involved with/married to someone else and would never leave them? I don’t honestly know.

18. What is your least favourite thing to do that you have to do everyday? Get up. Does that sound really emo? I don’t mean it like that. I just don’t like getting up. The later it gets the less I want to get up…I’m a morning person who doesn’t like getting up.

Just some random stuff regarding life and that.

OK so I work in a motel right, and today I got a booking for someone named Merlin! It wasn't spelt right but whatever.

SEE! Lol, how cool. I didn't know people still named their children Merlin....or Merlyn.
Anway, in other news, I uploaded some new icons today which is cool. I really hate my limited userpic space but somehow I can never fill it up.

My 2008:

Went to Push Over in March. It was like 40 degrees (celcius, and in Melbourne nonetheless! (that is to say that Melbourne isn't usually that hot)) and I was wearing skinny jeans and a black tshirt and it was so fucking hot. It was really cool though, we got to meet a lot of the bands. On the down side I lost my voice (FROM A COLD!) and everyone was absolutely buggered by the end of the day.
Went to the Melbourne Comedy Festival Roadshow. That was awesome because I got to meet Josh Thomas who is very awesome and I got my picture taken with him. Then I spent some time stalking his myspace and he actually sent me some comments which was, again, awesome.
Saw Arj Barker live with my sister. Again, he was awesome. He was hilarious even though I'd already heard a few of the jokes before. The dude who opened for him was good also, though I can't remember him name...
Annual ski trip. This year I got my own pair of blades which was cool (they're red). Although I was sooo sore after the first day because skiing works the shit out of your legs and it's hell if you're as unfit as I am. Not to mention all the bumps and bruises I had on my legs from the ski boots.
Went to Winton Motor Raceway again for the V8 Supercars. It was much better this year because last year I didn't have my glasses and couldn't see anything =P
Went on two school trips to Melbourne. The first one was several days long and we did so much walking I thought my legs were going to fall off.
Made friends with a whole new group of people IRL which is great. I'd been in classes with one of the girls for an entire year and we hardly ever spoke until the beginning of this year and now we're great friends.
Got active on LJ again and made new friends, discovered a new fandom (MERLIN!) and my graphics got some attention which is all awesome.
Gained a lot of self confidence which now only falters sometimes =D

So yeah, overall, I've had a really good year. It's been fun and I'm left with no regrets. Next year is going to be a massive year for me. Being my last year of high school it marks the end of that chapter of my life but the beginning of a new one. I'm really interested to see where I go. It'll also be a really hard year, what with the exams and the whole "everything you do is ranked against every other student in the state, but no pressure!" business.
I'm both excited and terrfied.

I think I was going to say something else in this point. Quite possibley rant about Paris Hilton but whatever.

A Few Notes//Things I Noticed

Making this picspam may have turned me into a little bit of a Arthur/Morgana shipper. I'M SO SORRY! But that scene, in episode two, with the armour...ASJGDGA!!
Katies range of facial expression < Bradley's. Although I suppose it's a bit harsh to compare anyone's face making abilities with those of Bradley the elasta-human hybrid.
Katie has more costume changes than anyone else in the entire cast each episode. SO MANY COSTUME CHANGES! Doesn't that just get annoying?

So I've had this vague idea for an epic Merlin future AU floating aroung in my head for a while that I've moslty been ignoring and then today I am getting all of these brilliant ideas for it and I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN WRITE IT BECAUSE I FAIL AT EPICS!

OMG! I already had the very first scene in my head and I just realised that the new idea that I just thought of kind of needs to be the first scene also....but now that I think about it I think it could still work...I DON'T KNOW!
I don't know whether to attmept to plan it so I know what I'm doing or just write it and see where it goes.

On one had, planning always makes me lose enthusiasm and on the other hand I tend to crap on when I don't know where I'm going.

Ok this is really awfully written and I wasn't really trying when I wrote it...it's a pretty awful fic actually but I had fun so...yeah.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Title: Mistletoe of DOOM! or Why Merlin Is Not a Bard
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairing: Arthur, Merlin
Word Count: 828 words
Disclaimer: Do not own.
Summary: In which Arthur is bored and Merlin speaks in capital letters.
Prompt: Mistletoe
AN: First of all Merry Christmas, secondly, this is not intended to be well written or well characterised or at all good, it is simply a piece of cracky, fun bullshit (with bad illustrations) that I bashed out for your Christmas enjoyment! =DD

"Merliiiiin," Arthur's whiny and ultimately un-princely voice filled the air as he lounged in his favourite chair, watching his manservant tidy his chambers, "Merlin I'm bored. I demand you entertain me at once,"

Merlin continued to shuffle around the Prince's chambers, picking up dirty clothes and rearranging every sparkling clean pair of Arthur's boots into a neat row.

"Merlin! Stop ignoring me! I said I'm bored!" Arthur huffed childishly.

Merlin rolled his eyes and straightened up, turning to face the prince, "Arthur, you are a grown man, you are perfectly capable of entertaining yourself," he said tersely.

Arthur pouted at his insubordinate manservant, "That is not the point! I gave you an order and you're supposed to obey it. Now entertain me!"

Merlin sighed and set down the pair of boots he was shining, knowing that he was fighting a losing battle. "How?" he asked, sitting down on the edge of the table.

"Hmmm..." Arthur considered it for a moment, one hand rubbing his chin and Merlin wondered if it was for purely theatrical purposes or if it actually helped the young man think.

"Tell me a story," the Prince demanded, shattering the pensive fog that had surrounded Merlin, "A Christmas story!"

Merlin raised a dark eyebrow, "A Christmas story?"

"Yes, a Christmas story. And none of that 'twas the night before Christmas' crap. I want action, adventure! I want people getting eaten by giant monsters or something,"

Merlin stared for a moment at Arthur who was wearing a slightly deranged grin and wondered if the man was serious. Arthur started ~~maniacally~~ expectantly back at him. Merlin decided he was.

What Merlin wanted to do was ask Arthur if he was aware of who he was, or even how old he was but he knew, from previous….incidents that Arthur did not take kindly to being reminded that he was not five years old.

Instead the young warlock repressed a sigh and took a deep breath, reluctantly beginning the story, “So there was this village called….uh….called Riverbend and-,”

Merlin was interrupted by Arthur’s deeply un-royal snort, “Riverbend? Are you serious?”

Blue eyes narrowed into an annoyed glare, “Be quiet I’m doing my best. It’s not as though I had an action-adventure Christmas story with giant monsters that eat people already prepared,”

“Why not?” Arthur demanded, “You really are an awful manservant,”

Merlin could not tell if Arthur was joking or not so, instead of pondering the issue, he continued with the story, “It was early in the holiday season when the people of Riverbend-,” he silenced the amused Arthur with a sharp glare, “-began to notice suspicious clusters of mistletoe growing in their plants,”

“Suspicious clusters of mistletoe?” Arthur snickered.

“Stop interrupting me or I will leave. Do you want me to entertain you or not?”

Arthur nodded, trying very hard to persuade his features to look somewhat more serious than “I Am About To Explode With Laughter And It Will Probably Be Messy”

“Good. So, the townsfolk consulted the village botanist-,”

“What kind of village has its own botanist?”

“Arthur!”

“Sorry,”

“Where was I? Oh yes, so the botanist goes with the farmers to inspect the mistletoe, expecting just regular old mistletoe. However he was very surprised and disturbed to discover that it was not just regular mistletoe that was infecting the plants but MISTLETOE OF DOOM!”

Arthur laughed noisily but did not speak, somehow engrossed in the awful story.

Merlin cleared his throat, glancing quickly at Arthur before continuing, “The botanist tells the farmers that this mistletoe will bring DOOM upon the village unless they remove it immediately. So the farmers spend the entire day finding all of the infected plants and hacking the mistletoe out until finally, when the sun is almost set, they finish their work and go back home to their wives. They sleep peacefully knowing that their families are safe from the imminent doom the mistletoe would have brought,”

“Is that it? Where are the monsters?” Arthur asked.

“No that’s not it!” Merlin snapped back at him, “The monsters are coming, just be patient. The next morning the farmers rise bright and early to tend to their crops but find their fields empty of everything but…..MISTLETOE!!”

Arthur gasped dramatically and Merlin resisted the urge to punch the prat in the face.

“Only each bush of mistletoe is now ten times larger than it had been when the farmers had cut it down, with fangs and eyes and claws. Now the clusters of mistletoe were no longer plants but MAN EATING MONSTERS!!”

“Man eating mistletoe monsters?”

“Yes. They ate all of the farmers and then the rest of the villagers and Christmas was not at all merry that year in the village of Riverbend. The End,”

Arthur blinked at his manservant, “You are really awful at telling stories,” he stated as he sat up in his chair.

“It’s probably a good thing I’m you’re manservant and not a bard then isn’t it?”

“Yeah, probably,”

So today I decided to makes some goals for the Big, Fun, Scary Challenge (a challenge run by the Office of Letters and Light in which you set some big, fun and/or scray goals for yourself to accomplish in the next year) and one of the was to start learning a new language.

Anyway I used to learn Japanese right but I've pretty much forgot all of it/didn't pay much attention because I was in primary school and I was going through some languages and I got to Japanese and all so the sudden I remember the tune we used to sing the Hirigana alphabet (which is not really an alphabet but rather a collection of sounds attatched to vowels) to and the first couple of lines.

Naturally I had to go find the rest of it.

So I Googled the Hiragana alphabet and I'm very proud of myself because I can actually remember most of the characters. Granted, I couldn't write them off the top of my head anymore but they are, at least, familiar and I can remember some of the tricks my LOTE teacher used to tell us for drawing them...

"Ku: a kookaburra's beak, Ko: a copper coin, Shi: She's got long hair..."

Lol, oh God.

Aaaanway, I need help deciding what language to study next year. It's a tossup between French, Japanese and Russian.

Hey guys!
This morning I woke up and decided I wanted to make a post on Christmas day full of Merlin-y goodness of varying mediums. That is to say just about anything I can actually contribute to the fandom. Of course I only thought about this today, two days before Christmas so I HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO to get it done.

Anyway, for my Christmas post I want to write a fic or two....or three but to do that I need..

I'm home! Finally, after the longest 4 hour trip EVER.
Seriouly, we left the motel at 10AM and got home at 5PM. We stopped and went shopping and delivered a laptop to one of Dad's clients and it took FOREVER.

So anyway, I'm back with lots of new clothes and a bruise on my head from an intimate enouncer with my Nana's mantle piece. Ouch.

THINGS THAT MADE ME HAPPY TODAY (DAY EIGHT):
1) I AM HOME! God, I was only away for 3 days but it feels great to be back. Seriously I forgot how humid it is in Geelong. Ergh.

2) New clothes and undies! Yus. Bright colored ones =DDD

3) FEATURE WALL! My dad has been kind to me and renovated my office this weekend while I've been away and he's giving me a feature wall! And organe one. Heck yes.

Now I am going to go eat some painkillers and catch up with fandom.

I know I missed Day Six of Eight Days of Happy meme but I have a very valid reason and that is that I spent all day travelling down to my home town which took like 5 hours and then when to visit family and friends and stuff so there was no time for LJ *le gasp!*.

Last night was my school's Presentation Night and it didn't go so well...I need to rant about it some.
Please don't feel obliged to read this, it's long and whiny and I just needed to get it out there.

Ok so last night was Presentation Night for my school, I was receiving a Distinction award which is um...nice...I guess. Anyway I didn't really want to go because those things are dead boring and they would have sent the certificate in the mail or something anyway but by the time I read the invitation my parents had already sent back the RSVP. So that was that.

Last night was also my sister's Year 6 graduation though. That started at 6.45pm and my thing started at 7.15pm so we had to leave almost as soon as my sister got her graduation certificate/whatever.

So we got to my thing on time and my dad and sister went upstairs and I sat downstairs with the other students. About 10 minutes in my sister starts crying because she's only just decided to show some fucking emotions over the fact that she'll never go to that school again (seriously, she was competely indifferent all week and now she starts bawling her fucking eyes out) so my dad takes her back to her school to say goodbye to her friends.

Of course in the process they entirely miss me getting my award. Now I wasn't upset that they didn't see my moment of pride or whatever. I'm not even very proud of it you know, it's just a Distinction. But I was extremely fucking annoyed that they made me go to this stupid presentation night that THEY wanted to see and then MISSED IT!

It went for two hours and there were lots of bery long, boring speeches and by the end I was very pissed off. the kind of pissed off where I was trying to decide whether I'd rather piff my phone at the nearest wall or tear my certificate into tiny pieces.

So we got home around 9.30pm and I'm still very pissed off. No I don't know how many of you know this but my parents own a motel and I run reception majority of the time. When we got home someone came into reception to hand in a breakfast menu and I took it from them and did all of the usual stuff and then my mum comes in, while the customer is still there.

She just hovers over my shoulder as if making sure I'm doing it right. I hate it when she does that because:
1) I do reception EVERY FUCKING DAY without fail, I don't need supervision. I know how to process a breakfast order.
2) Whenever there's another adult in the room the customer immediately decides that I'm just a retarded, incompetent teenager and they'd much rather talk to thsi superiour adult being. I especially hate that because, even if it's completely obvious that I'm going to serve them and my mum is doing something else, the customer just ignores me and talks to her.

I don't mind that if I haven't already started serving the customer. I hate serving the customers. But if I'm already half way through checking them in or something and my mum takes over, that pisses me off a lot. It's like she's undermining my intelligence or capabitlity or something. I AM PREFECTLY FUCKING CAPABLE!

So, last night, she did that to me AGAIN and when the customer left I told her how much it annoys me.
Of course she immediately went off. The woman is the most volatile I've ever met. She went and got into an argument with my dad about it for whatever reason and I just went to my room.

On top of that I'm feeling absolutely shit. I've hardly eaten in the last week and a half and I'm sleeping waaay to much. I've had a near constant headache for nearly three weeks...I wonder if I should go to a doctor?
Not that that would help as most of the doctors in this town don't speak English let alone know how to practice medicine.

Anyway, I'm going away to my hometown tomorrow and I'll be back on Monday. Most of ym family live there and I can't wait to see them all. Hopefully I'll feel better when I get back.

I'm sorry about the whinge. Again.

Tutorial No. 17
Because I can

I started out with this cap of Kahlan which I took myself. As you can see it is very very green.

Step 1. The first thing I did was prep the image. Duplicate the image three times. Set the first two to Screen and the third to Soft Light. Chances are that now your image will look far too light but I find that the colouring usually sorts that out nicely so don’t play with the opacity on your Screen layers just yet.

Step 2. My main priority at the moment is to get rid of all of that green and the bets colour to counteract green is red. So, I made a solid colour layer and filled it with #FFB0B0. I then set it to Colour Burn on 100% opacity.

Step 3. Now I felt it was a bit too dark and slightly dull so, underneath the pink layer I just made, I created another solid colour layer, this time filled with #FFF9CB and set it to Soft Light with the opacity at 68%.
Result

Step 4. This is where the major colouring happens. Create a Curves adjustment layer with the following settings:
RGB:
Point 1 – Input: 117 Output: 129
Point 2 – Input: 80 Output: 82

Red:
Point 1 – Input: 127 Output: 141
Point 2 – Input: 71 Output: 67

Green:
Point 1 – Input: 138 Output: 123

Blue:
Point 1 – Input: 54 Output: 56
Result

Step 5. Make yet another solid colour layer and fill it with #000318 on Exclusion, 92%. Stop here to get the first colouring. Note: This colouring also looks nice if you replace the blue exclusion layer with a brown one.

Step 6. Create a new layer and Stamp Visible (Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E). Duplicate the layer. Set the first layer to Screen, 50% and the second to Multiply, 100% and you’re done!

1) I found out two of my icons have been nominated at merlin_awards which is quite awesome. The other icons there are amazing so I don't think I'm going to win but still, nominations are nice.

2) I watched the Legend of the Seeker. The show itself is completely ridiculous (and not in an awesome way like Merlin) BUT some of the actors are very attractive.
