What is the difference between AU and OU?
An OU (Original Universe) character is strictly canon without any alterations. An AU (Alternate Universe) character comes from a player-created alternate reality.

What are the stipulations for applying for characters?

You cannot play both the AU and OU versions of any one character.

There can only be one AU version of any given character.

All AUs will be judged on an individual basis. They can be rejected for subject matter and feasibility. An AU character must still have the personality of their OU counterparts and be recognizable as such.

THE CHIPS: CAN IT GO?

So, you have been chipped. Painfully. Even so, some of you can and will try to get it out or screw with it...but there are consequences to things like this. For mod ease, we ask that you comment here when you want to do something that will destroy the chip---whether or not it is successful.

Copy/paste the form, fill it out, and ask questions if need be!

Things that can immediately put you on this list: natural immunities that would attack the chip (i.e. Tony Stark's Extremis), being able to go on fire (goddammit, you Torch people), or thick/impenetrable skin.

Hello. I'm sure that you're...confused. Maybe you're even angry. Hell, I know that if I was in your shoes, I'd be. You've been roused from your sleep, roused from the dead, or pulled out of whatever epic world battle or adventure you were on. One man I talked to years back said that he'd been pulled in right in the middle of eating a bowl of cereal. Even now, Cheerios make him nervous.

Whatever you were doing was certainly more important to you than this. Understandably. I would be angry, and if you are? There are plenty of places to direct it. If you want to blame someone, blame the government and their puppets---but believe that there are people who care. My organization fights for the rights of all dimensional immigrants. We are on your side.

After years of knocking heads together and kicking down doors up on the hill, we've secured money, housing, and networking for all dimensional immigrants. You're welcome. If you want to help your fellow displaced man, we are always taking volunteers.

I'm sorry. If you are listening to this, you're starting on the first day of what may be an increasingly uphill climb. You are in an alternate dimension. No, you cannot go home. Yes, I am sorry. I have been trying for years now, but this point is in flux and none of the conventional methods of dimensional reconstruction have worked. I've tried them. I've tried even some of the more unconventional methods, and---[ he sighs audibly ]---for now, all I can give you is my understanding, my sympathy, and a nudge in the right direction. Trust people. Work together. Even if you do not want to trust any of the people here, ingroup favoritism is against you.

They don't like us. And, frankly, I don't blame them. This is...partially...[ the line goes dead for a few seconds; there is a high note of an alarm in the background]---dammit. I---I haven't got much time to wrap this up. Take the stipend they give you. You'll need it. There are motel rooms, good people here who understand that it isn't your fault---use the resources that you're given and get on your feet as best you can.

And so, in conclusion, you have been brought to my—our—great city due to the magnificent work of a brilliant if not somewhat troubled young scientist, Reed Richards, may he rest in peace. He was a great man. A hero well beyond his time. But rest assured, there is no need for heroes in this city anymore. Peace is upon us. We have law enforcers to do the job that so called “heroes” once did. I would advise you all not to go beyond the limits of what a normal citizen is capable of. The consequences could be dire.

Why does the OU app only ask for a link to history?
OU characters do NOT require a player-created history section. You are free to link to a suitable overview of your canon, i.e. Wikipedia.

What about the histories for AU characters?
If your history is a CANON AU (like Marvel Ultimates), a link will also suffice.

What goes into strengths and weaknesses? Eye lasers?
The strengths and weaknesses sections are for listing physical AND mental strengths and weaknesses. Please give us your characters' powers (if any). These sections should be at least 25-50 words each.
