Join Us

Welcome to our community platform, where writers of all public safety backgrounds unite.

Whether you’re just starting out or an experienced author, there are many ways to engage and benefit from joining us.

Joining PSWA has many notable benefits:

You’ll have early information about our outstanding annual conference, featuring expert speakers and panelists on public safety topics, innovations in the field, personal experiences, the path to publication, and building a successful writing career. An extra bonus is a day-long workshop on the writing craft.

You can enter our annual writing competition, in which a panel of judges reviews published and unpublished works in a variety of categories—fiction and non-fiction, short and long. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medallion awards are given.

You’ll receive a quarterly newsletter that includes organizational updates, member news, and selected articles on writing, publishing, and promotion.

Your questions about public safety policies and procedures receive authoritative responses in PSWA’s online discussion group. The group welcomes reports of your new work and your publishing questions.

As a new or renewing member, you can apply for a free review of a manuscript-in-progress.

Occasionally, PSWA hosts a webinar to let an expert delve into a public safety topic in-depth and answer members’ questions.

Our public Facebook group is a valuable social media channel for promoting your work.

Members who want to give PSWA extra support can elect to become Corporate Members at a higher dues rate, which also gives them a free ad in the annual conference program.

The intangible benefit of collegiality and camaraderie you’ll receive from contact with public safety writers around the country who share your interests and support your achievements.

Our membership year is January 1 to December 31.

Regular membership dues are $85 a year. Dues for those who join after July 1 are: $42.50.

Corporate membership dues are $250.
