Hi all! Challenge 10 is here, and also are the holidays! Which, in Doctor Who, means Special episode. Sadly, there was only one (until now) featuring Rose and the Doctor, so we're using that.
For this challenge you can do anything you want, as long as you only use caps from The Christmas Invasion. I've provided some, but you can use your own. Good luck!

I loved the use of purple here, but I do wish the image could be a bit brighter on the bottom (around their faces). ~ This icon is really lovely, but I think the crowding of the light textures near the Doctor and Rose's heads (the two bright ones) makes it a bit cluttered.

Whoa, it's the second-to-last challenge of the round already! We're nearing the end, give us your best ;)
This challenge will be all about textures. I'm giving you five textures and you MUST use at least one of them on your icon. It doesn't need to be only texture used, and you can alter it as much as you want, but I have to recognize it somewhere. In doubt, send the .psd or a printscreen.

	+++ no comment +++ no comment +++ it's super creative and the colouring is gorgeous ++ the inclusion of the tardis is genius, it's yellow and looks great. ++ I love TARDIS cutout and the bright yellow of the background + interesting shape and coloring + I love that it's shaped like the TARDIS! And the yellow color is very pretty. + another clever use of the TARDIS, love the bright coloring + Really cool and original shape. ♥♥♥♥ ~ The yellow is a little overwhelming and makes the Doctor look a little jaundiced. 	+ I really like the colouring and blending of the doctor though it would be in a higher place if parts of the circle weren't cut off ♥♥♥ ~ I've never been a fan of that blending style because it looks like the Doctor has grown a second head out of his cheek. This one is done a little better than some I've seen, but it's still a little off-putting. Also, the rounded edges of the circle are cut off on the left and top. ~ The blend looks odd, it makes him look like a cojoined twin. I love the coloring, though.

Also, the corners just look unfinished because of the lack of balance in the cropping. 	+++ brilliant composition and the shape acts to reinforce the focus of the image + I love the shape of this icon so much, because not only is it NOT a normally filled-out shape, it fits so well with the image's background, colouring, emotion, everything. They are really difficult sometimes to do properly, and this icon does it beautifully. + Simple and to the point. 	++ no comment ~ using a different font for the entire quote & choosing just "you can't" to be a different colour would make it have more impact that would go well with the image. ~ The font colors are too faded for the background. As a rule of thumb, solid or textured backgrounds work best for text and bolder colors on light backgrounds makes the colors pop better. You have two types of fonts here, and though that usually works, it depends on the fonts you choose. Usually a serif font on a smaller size works best against a word or two in cursive text. Also, the space between each line of text is excessive. It would look better if the text was concentrated on a particular point instead of all over the icon. ~ I think the icon would look better if the text lines were closer to each other vertically.

	++ i love the use of font ++ very emotional and nice work with the b/w + nice use of text & cropping + no comment + This is a bit less like a text only icon than an icon with text, but the font choices work very nicely so it lands as my third choice (the complete icon is quite gorgeous too). ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ~ I really love the text and the b&w, but the placement of Rose feels a bit awkward to me. I think it would look better if she were more centered in the icon or if she wasn't in the icon at all - as it is now she distracts from the text a bit too much.

	~ The very dark background clashes with the stark white of the text and it looks a bit too pixelated. ~ The icon feels very busy - try using a smaller font size, so the text doesn't cover the whole icon, to make the composition better. Lowering the opacity on the text layers a bit could also work.

The grey background works very well, and the TARDIS is nicely placed. + Good color and image + I really like those words with the lone Tardis. Very sad. + no comment + great quote but I think the text would have looked better if it were wrapped around the TARDIS more. ♥ this quote is so sad to me, so best emotional for that reason. ~ The inclusion of the Tardis left very little space for the quote you wanted to include, which ended up working against this icon, especially as it was supposed to be primarily a text icon.

You know how we refer to icons as "100x100 square boxes"? Let's change that. This week, you icon CAN'T be a square box or 100x100. Make it shaped. You can do it however you want: borders, transparency, shape masks, rounded corners, and it can even be square if you make it less than 100x100. Only not the 100x100 box. 	++ lovely coloring and great use of the texture + great use of textures, especially the borders. the colouring is a little red in places, but other than that, it looks great. ~ Although I really like this icon, I feel as if you oversharpened the icon a bit too much, either through the sharpen tool or oversaturation. I couldn't vote for it because of that, even though I otherwise really love it. ~ while the crop and idea of the icon is good, the image is a bit over contrasted and reddened ~ #12 would have been great if the red had been toned down just a bit, it gives the icon a very harsh quality ~ a bit over-saturated.
