PlanetFun is a 4D solar system simulation (3D + time) Sun, planets, Moon and star positions are calculated using various astronomical methods. App source code (Delphi Firemonkey) is available at: https://github.com/omarreis/vsop2013 PlanetFun features: * Solar system animation with configurable speed * Set any local date and time * Choose camera target (Sun, planets, etc) * Configurable camera distance-to-target * Touch gestures: one finger pan, two finger zoom, two finger rotation * show planet orbits. Each orbit is represented by 52 dots (for Earth it is one dot per week) * Heliocentric axis (x and z) * VSOP2013 and VSOP87 planet position calculations * Moon positions calculations ELP2000 * Star background image with 42455 stars of the Hipparcos Input Catalogue * Star and constellation lines and names ( a celestial sphere image ) * Constellation drawings ( 31 constellations ) * actual 3D spheres for the 150 brightest stars * Lighthouse on Earth on your GPS position * phone in the scene is positioned according to phone sensors (Azimuth,Elevation,Roll) * click the phone button to enter augmented reality mode. * Almanac module allows exploring the ephemeris calculators (stars, planets, Sun, Moon, Earth) controls: * camera distance and angle of view. * planet scales * local time, time animation speed * control visibility of various interface elements * app uses sensors compass, gyro and GPS - requires permission This app collects no user data.
Version History - Added program translations: French, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish - Fixed phone model roll direction ( phone was rolling to the wrong side ) 2.1 08/11/2023 * Fixed near plane/far plane clipping, so nearby planets are not clipped * moved Camera and Time editors out of the way ( to the top ) 2.0 06/14/2023 - constellation drawings on the sky background ( 31 constellations ) - set option in Visibility config 1.9 04/29/2023 * Fixed error in ecliptic obliquity ( introduced in v1.7 ) * Almanac module with various calculation engines: Planets VSOP2013, VSOP87. Star catalogs: Navigation and Hipparcos 150. Moon ELP2000. * A selection of bright stars added as white 3d spheres. These are positioned on the surface of the celestial sphere ( at 200 AU ) * Click a 3D object to see object data (coordinates). * Animated solar system diagram ( in the Almanac module ) 1.8 04/11/2023 * PlanetFun Almanac module with various calculation engines: Planets VSOP2013, VSOP87. Star catalogs: Navigation and Hipparcos 150. Moon ELP2000. * A selection of bright stars added as white 3d spheres. These are positioned on the surface of the celestial sphere ( at 200 AU ) * Click a 3D object to see object data ( coordinates and calculations ). * Animated solar system diagram ( in the Almanac module ) 1.7 04/07/2023 - Moon realistic positions ( based on Astronomical Algorithms ) - Toolbar for camera manipulation 1.4 11/07/2020 - Added two 3D objects: lighthouse and phone. These are positioned at user position using geographical coordinates (GPS) - 3d phone attitude in the scene is controlled by phone sensors. Select phone as camera target to see the sky pointed by the phone ( augmented reality ) 1.3 10/28/2020 * Fixed Polaris position * Config dialog was split in 3 smaller dialogs ( time, camera and visibility ) this improves interactive configuration. * Changed axis from ecliptic to celestial reference. * Textures moved to external files to simplify source code publication on github. 1.2 10/03/2020 * Sky star background now shows star names * constellation lines and names * 42455 stars of the Hipparcos Input Catalogue * heliocentric axis ( RA and Decl ) 1.1 09/26/2020 1.0 08/16/2020
