Explanation about the psycho and my shortest job ever on Friday
So I went to work on Friday morning, as I was asked to. At the interview, I made sure to tell the owner that I had to be at class by 2 PM, and that I could only work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until classes let out this Friday. She said that was fine.
Well, as I was being prepped to start training, the manager training me made sure to tell me about the menu, what not to screw up since I would get screamed at, etc. Scary, but I figure, I can manage it. She also tells me I am temporary, and I beetter not screw up at all, or she will fire me. She said I must be exactly on time, with my clothes ready and pressed, and I must not call in for any reason whatsoever and I must work all shifts I am assigned without question.
I go to the floor and follow on of the servers. He also tells me, do not do this, or Cindy will go nuts and stuff like that. For instance, we have to bring money in order to make change for people paying with cash. He said if you EVER hand her a $20 and ask for change, she will know you did not bring change and will yell at you in front of everyone.
Then, while I was watching the server enter an order, another server, who just started the day before, and had only had half a day of training before being put to work, made a mistake. It was a mistake that anyone could make, and that you wouldn't make if you were trained properly. One manager teased her, but said it was alright. The owner got wind and screamed at her, in front of customers and everyone. She said apologies were useless, that she really screwed up and will not be serving anymore. She continued yelling, even after he point was made, and telling everyone she saw about the girls screw up. The girl looked like she was reading to cry. I have worked in many restaurants, and I have made the same mistake, and even with an owner I thought was bitchy, we worked it out.
Then, closer to 1:30, I mention that I need to be at class at 2 PM, something I told her at the interview. She said it would be fine then, saying we would be done by then anyway. So I tell the manager, who looks scared anyway, since everyone was saying I would work all day (12 hour shift). She comes back and says ok, but be here right at 11 on Tuesday. I have class at 11 on Tuesday (well, I skipped for homework anyway lol something I never do). I tell the manager that, she goes and talks to the owner. I see them, and the owner looks disgusted. The manager comes back, asks if I can work anytime on Tuesday. I tell her I go to class all day, and I couldn't, which I told her at the interview. So she goes back to the owner, and the owner looks pissed. She comes towards me and motions me to follow her. We go to the back room and she starts screaming at me. She says "obviously, this isn't working out. I thought you could work." I tell her I could work anytime once school is out, and MWF until then, I just have one class from 2-3 then. She says it doesn't matter, and tells me to leave. She said perhaps I could come back after school is out. So I go change out of my uniform, and see her on the way out. She grabs then out of my hands and tells me to give them to her, since I will never be using them again.
But I have another job lined up. May not make as much money, but at least the owners seem sane and are willing to work with me. They also know I am only here for the summer before going to graduate school, so that is great.
Wedding dress shopping for fun hehe
So Friday night, James and I went to St. Louis with plans to hang out. We decided to stop in at Davids Bridal for the heck of it, just to look around. Of course, they do not let you just look around, they had me in a dressing room trying on dresses before long. I know, he isn't supposed to be there, but nothing about us is traditional. I have some pics on my phone of the dresses we liked the most, but still not sure I am going to get my dress from there. I have read some very bad things about their alterations department screwing dresses up, and since I am short and still in the process of losing weight, they would probably need altered. I am in no hurry to buy a dress, since I plan on losing weight this summer, and they can only take it in like 1 or 2 sizes, and I am afraid of ruining the dress anyway. I did not want anything too formal either, but after trying on these dresses, it may turn out that way anyway. I wanted the Maggie Sottero dress I posted here awhile back that everyone loved, but figured it was too formal for our wedding. If i am going formal, I am going to at least look into that dress since I am in love with it. Davids Bridal does not carry Maggie dresses, so I have to go somewhere else. My problem is my chest.
Apparently, I have lost enough weight to go from a 42 to a 36 around my chest, but my cup size went from a DDD to a F. Well, according to the lady who measured me at Davids Bridal, not sure how accurate it was, after all, they had me in a 38 C bra at the and I was hanging out, and they measured over the dress. However, when she was measuring me, she commented on how I had a tiny waist. I guess compared to my chest, I do, it just always looks like I am bigger then I am because I am so large up top, and have hips, when really, I have a smaller waist. They were confused on what to do. I could wear a lot smaller dress if it wasn't for my chest, I mean MUCH smaller. So the dresses that fit on top, didn't fit below, and the ones that fit below, could not be zipped up.
Anyways, here are the pics. I might add the Maggie dress up here as well, just to show those who forgot or who haven't see it.
I liked this one a lot, the picture doesn't do it justice. It also did not fit in the chest area, they would need to order a larger size and take it in. It is a light ivory color with small, almost rose colored accents on the front and the bottom. It has a train in the back, we just forgot to get a picture It is $599.
This is the one everyone else loved, meaning a few bridesmaids trying on dresses across from me. They stopped and stared. I even had a little boy, probably 2 years old, stop and stare. I also liked this one a lot, and the picture doesn't show the details. It is all white, with accented crystals on the top part and the train. Also $599. Oh, and I think James took the pic right as I was sneezing lol that is why I have such a funny face.
The train to that dress
Now this is one that I love, but the price tag is double that of the others pretty much and more then I was wanting to spend on a dress personally since I see no reason to spend a lot of money on a dress you wear only once, but we took pictures anyway. The veil to match it is wonderful too. It has details on the top and down the front slightly and one the train. James says this is the one, I disagree, I don't think it is anymore special the others at half the price. Price: $1100.
Now this is the Maggie dress that I love. I usually am not up for red in my wedding, since it will be hard to fit with our plans and everything, I wish the sash came in other colors, but it doesn't. I am not sure on the price for this one since I haven't been to a store that carries it yet.
Oh, and this was funny, was that apparently, there was a scavenger hunt at the local high school, and one of the things they needed was a picture with a bride. I had a group come up to me and get their picture with me, in one of the dresses I hated nonetheless. Then another group did the same thing, and I asked how many groups were there. Apparently, 30 groups in total. I didn't mind, but the employees at the store did and started turning them away lol.
After dress shopping, we went to T.G.I Fridays and to the casino. We won a little money, and I was tired, so I figured it was time to go to his dads and get some sleep.
The next day...graduation dress shopping and ring shopping (I picked out my wedding ring)
The next day, we went to the mall to try to find me a graduation dress. No luck. I have a backup, but would prefer something a little nicer, so we shall see. Also, we went jewelry shopping since James wants to start paying on the wedding rings now, so we can cut that expense out. We looked last weekend too, and I found one that I loved, and I found nothing I could compare it too. Last year, we were looking, and I had found a ring I wanted, it was one that fits over the engagement ring and had two sapphires, one on each side of the diamond, and two smaller diamonds to the side. They don't carry it anymore, but I was able to get the ring I had my heart set on afterall, and cheaper then any others as well. We found one with all diamonds, and they are going to customize it, and put sapphires in where I want them, at no additional charge either. James never did find anything, he is not sure what he wants lol I tried telling him we had plenty of time, but I also see where he is coming from. We can ge them paid off by the end of the summer most likely, and it helps with the other costs.
We went to my moms, had a bbq, and came home.
braving the wild...lol I mean canoeing
The next day, we were going to clean, but James got the wise idea of a canoe trip. We took my niece Megan, who is 9, and my brother William, who is 12 since they have never gone. We tied the canoes together and spent 4 hours (the guides said if we rowed, it would be an hour and a half, no more then 3 hours...heh apparently we suck). I got attacked by a tree. We were going to the side, where there were fallen trees, and somehow, I got underneath the limbs. As we were moving, I could feel it tearing up my back. Believe me, it hurt a lot. I asked James how bad it looked, he said it was so bad, my brother had to look away and said he couldn't watch lol. The kids really enjoyed it, and I enjoyed spending time with them. Even though I had said I was going to do homework on Sunday lol.
Then more bbq at my moms house afterwards.
Whew, sorry for such a long entry. I applaud you if you manage to make your way through it lol.
