So I have a question for the women on my list... No offense, men... But I don't think you'll want to read about my female issues.

I'm scheduled to get a hormonal IUD tomorrow. I've never had one before. I've been on the pill most of my adult life and have bleeding issues, sometimes severe. And they believe ovarian cysts could be an issue too. I went in today for my birth control refill and the doctor (whom I trust very much) suggested it. I asked for one years ago and the doctor told me she didn't recommend it because I'd never had a child and there were more risks for perforation or other issues. I dropped it and figured it was off the table... Until today. She said that's no longer true about needing to have had a child. I've researched them in the past, so I know a lot about side effects and whatnot.

I just wanted to ask if any of you have used an IUD? The string and everything sounds weird and of course, I worry I'll always be checking to see if it's in place... What do you think of it? Was the procedure to insert it pretty uncomfortable? It sounds like it. Are you happy with it? Do you have bleeding issues? I know there are risks, so no need to scare me out of it... I don't need horror stories. Just opinions on what it's like and if you can feel them, etc. You know, every day things, not the freak accidents.

I'm slightly nervous just because it's new to me.
