Just a quick real life update from me. Then dinner time :)

1) The deadline for "Happily Never After" has been extended to August 1st. The "Horrors of History" anthology was far more popular than I had planned on... And it's going to take up all my time to compile. So I figured extending the deadline for the other one made sense (there's still enough submissions that I could put it together now, but I'd love to see more come through).

2) I have a job interview tomorrow. It's for a "paid internship", whatever that means. I'm nervous about it because I have no idea what to expect. It's for a social media specialist position with a creative and fun Internet start up. They're located right by Huntington Beach pier, their web page and everything looks like it requires creativity... This could be a decent opportunity. Hopefully it pays enough to live on *crosses fingers*

3) I've been sick on and off for the last week. I was supposed to meet up with a LJ friend who was in the area... And I had to bail because I was throwing up my stomach medicine and in a lot of pain. Boo. Now it's just headaches... The usual culprit.

4) First, the good news. I called my mom last night to see if my nephew's blood test results came back. I hadn't mentioned this, but my nephew (and my niece too strangely enough) were getting weird bruises on their bodies. It was like a rash, it would just pop up, but it was blood below the surface. It would go away as quickly as it came. He went to the hospital, then the doctor... But his blood tests keep coming back normal and it hasn't happened to either of them since the doctor's visit. Weird...

5) Now the bad news. My mom had no news on my nephew, but my step-dad was hospitalized yesterday. He had a heart attack. This is his second or third one. No, we are not close. Not by a long shot really. I've never gotten along with him. But man, he needs to take care of himself for my brother's sake...

My mom forced him to go to the hospital, he fought it. Just like the last time. When he got there and they asked "what brings you in here?" He responded "she did" and pointed to my mom. Just like the last time.

They freaked out for a bit and thought things were bad... But now I think they're saying he's fine. He was transferred to a St. Louis hospital. Just like the last time.

He still insists nothing is wrong. When they asked if he had chest pains, he said he did. They asked "for how long?"

His answer? "Two years."

He has no desire to take his medication properly, or eat better... And he's not worried about these heart attacks. I'm not sure there's much anyone can do. My mom does what she can to keep the guy alive even though she swears she can't stand him... But we all know the truth ;)

So that's what's going on in my world. How about you guys? Anything new?
