Update on a few things

My school officially announced that they are changing the name today. It is no longer the University of Missouri-Rolla, but Missouri University of Science and Technology. Of course, this will not go into effect until after I graduate, but it seems so strange. I am ok with the idea of a name change, I just think that particular name is dumb. We have more then science and technology at my school. We have English, History, Education, Psychology, and other programs. What will happen to the humanities? We already have very little when it comes to those, but they are getting better. How does this effect the business program? Will it be more technology based then it already is? Sure, I already have all the experience I need to go into an IT field. Our initials will be MOST according to some, I think that sounds terrible. The new chancellor is only doing this to make himself famous, most students do not want this. It is irritating.

Thanks to those who left comments, I am in a rush really, I just needed to rant. My sister, niece and nephew are all ok. We were at the hospital until late last night, and I have homework due at 5 PM today and a meeting with financial aid where I needed to prepare documents for at 3 PM. I am taking a break, then taking a shower, then trying my hand at finance again.

The details of yesterday were that the van was not running, they were getting ready to leave, Tyler was in the van. He his the gear shifter, probably in neutral, and started going backwords. Ran over my sisters legs actually, but the ground is so muddy, she luckily got buried in the mud more then run over. The yard is a complete downhill into a lake, but somehow the van swerved sideways and backed into a tree instead of going into the lake. We are not sure if Tyler turned the steering wheel or what, but the van completely turned before going into the lake. Megan had tried jumping in the van to get Tyler out, and was drug, but only has scratches on her back. The hospital took X-Rays of all of them, checking for internal injuries (a year or so ago, a little boy did the same thing, ran over her sister. A different hospital sent the little girl home with a clean bill of health. She later died due to a ruptured spleen that they did not catch, so I am glad the hospital was extra careful to check).

Tyler was very depressed afterwards. He saw his mom and was very scared. He kept saying "I am sorry mom, I will never do it again." It was so sad to see how badly this traumatized him. We had to be very careful about what we said. He was very upset, naturally. Poor little guy.

My sister lost a big chunk of skin from her big toe, and had her legs completely wrapped in bandages. Megan and Tyler were sent home with a clean bill of health. This could have been so much worse, they got very lucky. Everything just happened in a way that saved them, the fact the ground was mud and my sister sank into the mud, the van turning before hitting the lake, Megan not getting run over as she was drug by the van. If one of those things did not happen, I am afraid at least one of them could have been killed.

I am not going to have much time to see them over the next few days, which is sad, because I want to. Today we are leaving town once we are done with everything at school. James' brother, Shawn, is in from Hawaii. He is stationed at Pearl Harbor with the Navy and going to be deployed next month I believe. He is going to the Persian Gulf for awhile. This may be the last time James gets to see him for awhile, and they are very close. We are either spending the night in St. Louis or the Lake of the Ozarks, depending on if he is at their dads house or vacation house. Then, on Sunday, we are leaving for South Carolina for a few days. I plan on doing DITL post for the day, as long as something doesn't go wrong, like my camera go dead or something. Something always seems to happen to prevent me from doing one! We are going to be driving for awhile, I may post our route up here if I get a chance.

I need to take a shower and get back to my homework. Finance is really kicking my butt this semester. I guess that is what I get for signing up for an upper level finance class and getting a finance minor.
