Breaking news...

My mom calls me at like 7 AM, I am still asleep. My mom never calls that early, so I knew something was wrong. Apparently, there was a threat on campus. A bad one too. My mom thought she heard it had to do with the nuclear reactor and was really worried. Apparently, it was in the Civil Engineering building and we are not sure what the threat was, but according to the radio, there was a police standoff and a student was arrested (however, that was recently changed to them still searching for the student). Whatever he/she did shut down half the campus at like 2 AM and classes until at least 10 AM have been cancelled, and the area is being shut off. There is a press conference this morning as well where they will announce what had happened. Our neighbors (who I am not sure I trust) said it was an anthrax scare.

Actually, more breaking news. Apparently they aren't sure it is under control last my mom heard on the St. Louis news.

I have never felt threatened at my university. I always brag about how safe it really is here, being a smaller town and everything. This is just strange. I will post more if I hear anything else. So much for sleeping in I guess :)

**Breaking news to add** They believe they may have found a bomb, and there is a white powdery subatance. They have called the FBI and the military in. 23 people are being decontaminated and all roads around the university have been shut down. They have a bomb squad from the military as well as chemical specialists. The student has been arrested after a police standoff and is in questioning. They are calling it a "terrorist type action" but not commenting on much else until the press conference in a few minutes. We may or may not have class after 10 AM, waiting for more investigation.

Here is a link to the St. Louis news with a little info, we are hearing most of it off the local radio station though. There is also a video on their website talking to someone at the University.

All of this, and James is so sick. We wanted to take him to student health this morning, but I highly doubt the road isn't blocked off and I bet they are closed. He seems to be coming down with bronchitis.

Oh, and we made national news on Yahoo. It was on the homepage even.
