I disconnected from the Internet over the weekend, but I'll try to get back to comments today. I need to really work my butt off this week and next since I need to be totally ahead of the game for my vacation coming up. So I might be around a tad bit less than normal since I'll be entering crunch time on several projects at work.

But I'm still around! I'll still read when I can! I usually read at work but that'll be cut down a bit I think. At least until after the vacation :)

So how was everyone's weekend?

We had a great weekend. On Sunday we decided to play tourists and walk around Hollywood/Beverly Hills and get pictures with the gnome. It was so hot and so busy though... So we didn't get photos of ourselves. Parking was a pain as to be expected. Hordes of people made stopping to get photos impossible. I told Kevin I might be done with Hollywood for a bit. It was ridiculous.

Hollywood pics behind the cut!

Earlier in the trip, a homeless guy was standing at the corner where we had stopped and spoke to me. I told him I had no cash (I don't carry any) and it wasn't until we pulled away that I read his sign and it had been asking for water, not money. We had a bottle of water with us and I felt bad not passing it on :/

So I took it with me in case we ran into him again. We didn't, but there was a teen boy with an old dog. The boy had ran out from the shop with a bottle of water as we waited at a cross-walk. He poured the entire bottle except maybe a drink into the dog's bowl. He looked at what was left sadly.

That's when I pulled out my bottle and handed it to him. He looked shocked. But the kid had just given every last bit to an old dog, and being the dog person I am... That touched me and broke my heart.

So it worked out that I could help someone on a blazing hot day at least. And likely a dog too. It's likely something I'll never forget. The look in that boy's eyes was heart breaking.

But then we went to the opposite end of the spectrum... Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive.

I snapped some photos there, mainly with the gnome as ritzy people gave me the stink eye. Though back when we did the Hollywood tour, they mentioned no one really buys anything on Rodeo. They window shop. I can see that since it was mainly tourists.

Photos!

Beverly Hills!

Kinky clothing off Rodeo...

This sign had many businesses which made me laugh... Dentistry spa? Surgical art?

Pretentious kids clothes on Rodeo

There was a photo shoot of people dressed in super fancy attire which made Kevin feel out of place, but most people were tourists. Which we aren't tourists, we are from here, we fit in with them.

Then we realized that we wouldn't have to drive for Sprinkles Ice Cream, it was right off Rodeo. So we walked and at first stood in line until we realized that was the cupcake place and we wanted the ice cream place.

We both got the Sprinkles sundae. Which is a cupcake (with frosting on top) cut on half and filled with ice cream. He got the peanut butter cupcake (our favorite) with peanut butter ice cream. I wanted to try the hazelnut cupcake, so I did that with peanut butter ice cream. Yummy.

Here's a photo:

Then we went home and went fwump because the heat and walking wore us out.

The next day, we lounged around until about 1 pm. We decided it would be Annabelle Day to make up for leaving her on Sunday. We played with her all morning and then took her to the dog beach. We haven't been there since April because of her toe issues, and April was the first time we visited this secluded little beach. It's far better than the big one in Huntington. It's where a river meets the ocean and parts have very shallow areas without waves (the waves were brutal yesterday). Annabelle has gotten over her fear of water and she ran and romped within minutes. I like the spot because it's a bit secluded and harder for her to run up to the busy road (the other dog beach is right there by the busy road). She stays with us and comes on command, I just always worry at the other place since it only takes one bad move...

But here, I feel safer.

More pics!

Tell me she doesn't look so happy?

So that was that! A very good weekend! Though next weekend is reserved for just fwumping because we need a break after cramming adventure after adventure into the last few weeks. We had to catch up on summer because we never got out and about due to Annabelle's paw. It's been nice, but a weekend of testing sounds nice too :)
