I'm so proud right now <3

First and foremost, I want to say THANK YOU for everyone who voted for java_fiend. Alas, my sweetheart didn't make it this week. However, he made it to the Top 5. The Top freaking Five. You know how proud I am of him right now?

For those who don't know, therealljidol is a little writing contest I participate in. I met my boyfriend (who happened to live 2,000 miles away when we met, now we live 20 miles apart, crazy, huh?). It started in October this year with 230 writers I believe? 20-30 more came in through a little game they had part of the way through, so I think the total was 256. And guess what? My honey made it to the Top 5!

So yes, while I am sad that he is eliminated, I am super proud of him. He's so talented...his writing is what drew me to him in the first place. He writes a terrific political rant that I could totally get into. He writes funny stories that I can read a hundred times and still bust out laughing. And his fiction? AMAZING.

You don't believe me? See for yourself. Here are a few of his pieces that I loved the most this season. A little bit of everything and I think if you have never read one his pieces...well then, now is the time to check this guy out and really see what he's about.

And do me a favor? If you like something of his...Tell him so. He loves feedback and comments. He only bites me and Annabelle, and he doesn't mind a stranger commenting on his stuff. He actually loves it.

Non-Fiction

Of course, I was partial to his piece about our little road trip last August. We had only met once before in RL, when I came out for my job interview. He expresses the fears and everything so perfectly...not to mention, shows exactly what a sweetheart he really is <3

And another one from this week. This piece made me laugh so hard...and I was there when it happened. It's a story of how my sweet, but giant, beast of a dog made him scream like a little girl...and how she pretty much mocked him for it the entire time too. Great story.

Wow...another one that mentions me in it. I promise, I'm not vain or anything. No, not at all :P But this is about us. How we met, our cool little story...and it's an intersection round where he wrote with me too. I love our little story, how could I not?

And to prove that I do like things that talk about things other than me, how about the story of how he met David Hasselhoff? Well, he drove him around in a gondolier is more like it...How could you NOT want to read that now?


And now onto his bread and butter...

Fiction

My honey loves the creepy fiction. And he's damn good at it too. I really love all the fiction that he writes and he simply blows me away week after week. So picking some favorites might be hard to do...

So to narrow it down...Here's a tale we discussed a bit before he wrote it and I LOVE the way he executed it (executed...hehe). Think zombie apocalypse meets alien meets secret government cover up.. Yeah. Good stuff.

I loved this creepy piece about a couple amateur ghost hunters as well. I thought it was a really cool idea and he did a wonderful job with it.

Another dark and creepy tale that could easily be told around the campfire as a true tale of terror...How about some whispers in the dark?

What is creepy without an apocalyptic piece of sorts?.Especially one centered in my good old state of California after the The Big one finally hits. I loved the gritty reality of this piece so much.

One of my favorites was from earlier in the season actually. It's creepy, but not in his typical sense. . A piece about a military man out for revenge over evil. Marching Orders.

I LOVED this story so freaking much. A very creepy piece about a dystopian society where the government has just a little bit too much control...

I really could have posted about every single piece he has written, especially his fiction. Have I said how amazing he is yet? Countless times? I can never say it too much. Seriously guys...please do me a favor and read some of his stuff. It doesn't matter for the competition anymore, it's just for fun. He loves feedback and I know it would mean the world to him to hear from some new folks, even on older pieces.

Also, do me a favor and spread some love for my boy? A lot of you know him through therealljidol or through my journal...and say something nice for him? Either over on his journal, or over here on the elimination thread, or even right here where I will make sure he sees it.

The season is almost over, but you can read and support the remaining 4 writers as well as play in the Home Game. It's not hard and I can answer any and all questions you might have. Seriously? It is way too much fun.

I am so proud of my sweetheart though. TOP FIVE!!! He is so freaking amazing and talented. He's going to be famous someday...Just wait and see. And read his stuff now so you can say you read his stuff before he was a big and famous writer :D
