I haven't watched the last episode of either Prison Break or Heroes. Usually I schedule work so that it doesn't interfere with TV time but my time management skills have failed me recently. Here's hoping that nothing has happened in those episodes to make these icons redundant.

I was thinking about Heroes today and usually I embrace the random and he crazy but for once it actually made me kinda mad.

But I needed to vent, and not even in that fun snarky way.

I'm pissed off with how this season has dealt with Sylar and Peter. Two of my favourite characters.

They've totally fucucked (it's not a swear word you see!) with both characters.

Firstly Peter: The fact that he had all those powers and that he was the most powerful one was brilliant because it was contrasted with his previous kinda pathetic emo existence, where he was the overlooked son that was treated like a big overgrown gorgeous baby. And I don't know why the writers have decided to revery him back to what he was pre powers. Plus he's one of the characters who seems to genuinely like having abilities, well you know, when he's not angsting about nuking whole cities and stuff. Is it supposed to be character development? Because they totally cared about that a few episodes earlier when Peter went into finger pointy head slicey mode on his dear old mummy. Oh but of course that realates to my second point:

THERE IS NO HUNGER!

THEY MADE THAT UP!

And I'm pretty sure this is how the conversation went in the writers room.

Writer 1: Oh erm so, that Zach guy he's kinda cool right? And Sylar he's a pretty popular character right?

Writer 2: Yeah it's too bad we've written him as an unredeemable psychotic killer who would like nothing more than to slice open the heads of most of our Heroes.

Writer 1: A real shame. Hmmmm. You know what we could do? We could pretend that his psychotic tendancies are a result of like this HUNGER so he has to you know, open heads and look at brains and erm yeah...we could just call it THE HUNGER and yeah, well that's about it.

Writer 2: Oh totally, that idea is FTW! Won't our audience kind of notice this complete rewriting of history though?

Writer 1: No. It's not like they're obsessives who sit and write fanfic and make icons and rant about our imaginary conversations or anything? Plus, we'll get Milo to take his shirt off again. That'll distract the hell out of them.

Writer 2: Totally! But maybe that won't be quite sympathetic enough. I mean couldn't he just ignore the HUNGER that doesn't exist and we've just made up?

Writer 1: Erm yeah maybe. Okay, right how about we get Peter to get the HUNGER by pretending that Peter needs Sylar's power to save the world and then promptly forgetting about that whole idea. Because you know it'll show even the nicest most kind hearted character cannot defeat the HUNGER.

Writer 2: Yeah and how about we show that actually he was like totally remorseful! He tries to kill himself. Nothing brings the awwws like a good failed suicide attempt.

Writer 1: Yeah and maybe we can then blame his whole killing thing on a love interest. She makes him jealous and bam he falls off the wagon, back to the ol' killin' sprees. So it's not his fault really. She basically made him do it! The pie she baked was just not scrumdidllyumptious enough! Not when the HUNGER kicks in and he is needing of the brains. She should have baked brain pie! Damn her and her inadequate pies!

Writer 2: Yeah! And now we're on a roll, let's make Sylar into a Petrelli!

Writer 1: Well why the fuck not!!

Plus did anyone else notice the fact that during the complete reworking of Sylar's backstory, they had Elle just recently push him over the edge, which was not very hard to do by the way, shoddy Petersupplement emo barely had to do anything. Exploding glasses? I mean whatever man. Buy an air rifle. And then a second later HRG got into the minicab with not-yet-spider-Mo. Wasn't Mo's dad dead by then? Wasn't that the reason Mo was in the Big Apple? So when did Sylar find the time to kill Papa Suresh then? Because that clip seemed to be missing from his artistic flashback of remorse. And I'm assuming while he was awaiting on getting a slice of Elle's pie, he wasn't out killing Papa S?

And oh yeah,

WAS IT THE FRICKIN' HUNGER THAT MADE SYLAR KILL SURESH? Or was it just his big juicy scientific brain? I forget!

Well anyway, I have an essay to write.

I'm not sure when or if I'll be making of the icons for this episode. I'm pretty peeved. I mean this show can usually do pretty much anything and I'm like 'oh lulz, *pets silly show* but right now I'm actually kinda pissed.

Weird.

On the 9th of July 2007, I joined 50bookchallenge, which basically meant reading 50 books in a year.

I finished a day early and I've read 55 books.

1) We Need To Talk About Kevin:
If I didn't want kids before I certainly don't want them now. I would totally end up with a little psycho like Kevin. As soon as I finished this I wanted to read it again it was that freakin awesome</div>

2) The Interpretation of Murder
Imagine a book where Sigmund Freud wanders around New York stroking his beard and generally being very clever and Austrian while trying to solve a murder. This is basically the book you end up with. Thumbs up then!</div>

3) Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows
JK Rowling goes round killing all the characters she could have done without killing while leaving that whiny bitch Hagrid alive, and then as though to balance out the willynilly deaths, has an end so sentimental, my teeth actually fell out while reading it. I LOVE HP but this book killed me. All was NOT well.</div>

4) Northern Lights
It still eludes me why people think this book is omg amazing. But then I see hoity toity religious people crying about it on Amazon and that just makes me lol. The book is about dust! Plus you still have ~~Jesus~~ Aslan</div>

5)Hurricane Gold (Charlie Higson)
James Bond as a kid. So James Bond without gadgets, sex, women or violence. So James Bond for religious fundamentalists</div>

6)Birdsong (Sebastian Faulks)
Apparently if you read this and you don't cry A LOT you're dead inside. I didn't shed a single tear. And the book actually was moving. I can therefore conclude I am dead inside and most probably outside too</div>

7)In Cold Blood (Truman Capote)
Totally chilling. Totally gripping. I think this means I'm really morbid but obviously not as morbid as Capote who you know, actually wrote this book</div>

8) Journey To The Centre Of The Earth (Jules Verne)
Oh look a volcano, let's climb inside, oh I'm lost, oh look an underwater river!, oh look gigantic trees!, oh look there's a dinosaur! The most eventful day trip ever but who knows what anybody is feeling about it because there might just be about five adjectives in the whole book. Hi-lar-ious</div>

9) Wuthering Heights (Emily Bronte)
I was talking to my cousin the other day who has pretty much read all the classics and I finally found someone who agreed with me that Wuthering Heights is the worst freaking love story ever. Ooh I feel so sad that Catherine didn't want me so I'll act like a prick for the rest of my life, imprison her daughter and force her into marriage, and even when I hit Catherine Jr the reader won't see me for the vile pig that I am because I'm so tragic and heartbroken whine, whine, whine. I mean honestly WTF? And Catherine was a bitch anyway</div>

10) The Night Watch (Sarah Waters)
The book goes backwards in time which is nifty but by the end you're like, erm where's the rest of the plot? And Sarah Waters is really giving me an education into both 1940's London and lesbians, which is frankly a great two for one deal</div>

11) Everything Is Illuminated (Jonathan Safran Foen)
A crazy mix of literary styles, the garbled English of the Borat like translater and then the surreal flashbacks. Love to see the film version but I have a strong aversion to Elijah Woods face</div>

12) The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter (Carson McCullers)

Gotta love it just for that title. But in one word? Beautiful

13) Atonement (Ian McEwan)
Hahaha Faulks, McEwan got tears! The ending. Omg the ending. People need to read this before someone does the literary equivalent of 'and you know what Bruce Willis was dead the whole time!' </div>

14) Snakehead (Anthony Horowitz)
For some reason I like reading about kids being spies and shit like that. Probably because I spent my childhood watching the Power Rangers which although exciting, was not so exciting as say stopping nuculear missiles destroying the world. The Alex Rider books are starting to drag now though. There are only so many schenanigans he can get into before he's completely traumatised

15) Tess of the D'urbervilles (Thomas Hardy)
There aren't enough words to describe how much I love this book, or how powerful and moving it is. Thomas Hardy's prose is like poetry. And like Jude The Obscure this books seems designed to get me to actually drown in a huge pool of my own tears. God, this book is amazing</div>

16) A Short History of Tractors In Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka
Hilarious in parts and poignant in others. I just wish I had learnt more about tractors. I feel terribly misled</div>

17) The Woman In White by Wilkie Collins
An interesting and clever mystery. A brilliant villain. But my god the heroes of this story are so anaemic. By the end I was seriously almost rooting for the bad guy</div>

18) Enduring Love (Ian McEwan)
Unlike some people I know I actually liked the waffley scientific bits, it was the actual plt not the writing that got me. The end? Talk about a damp squib. What an unmenacing menace his stalker was. I think I could have taken him out and I would have been less whiny while doing it</div>

19) Human Croquet (Kate Atkinson)
This book is like one big mind fuck. One big mind fuck that you will enjoy. The characters are amazing. There are time jumps. A big central mystery. Storylines that shift so that you're not even sure what's real anymore. The Lost writers need to read this book to discover how that shit is really done </div>

20) Case Histories (Kate Atkinson)
Another amazing book. More vivid unforgettable characters, and interlinking mysteries and storylines. I'm a fully fledged fangirl of this writer</div>

21) The Kite Runner (Khaled Hosseini)
For some reasons my favourite books always seem to be the ones I cry the most at, and boy did this book make me bawl. The central relationship between the two boys is so moving. I can barely see a kite without tearing up. I must stay away from shops that sell kites. I would probably have a breakdown</div>

22) The Shadow of The Wind (Carlos Ruiz Zafon)
So melodramatic. It's like The Phantom of The Opera but with books. Awesome</div>

24) Tulip Fever (Deborah Moggach)
Basically a stroy of adultery but with tulips. I don't mean the tulips are doing the adultery, just that they are heavily featured in a story of human adultery. I am confusing myself now. It was enjoyable and the ending was suitably 'hmmmm?' but it wasn't earth shattering</div>

25) The Mayor of Casterbridge (Thomas Hardy)
Thomas Hardy again, trying to wring all the moisture out of my body. He could write a masterclass in creating sympathy for his characters. Now I just have to read Return of The Native, which I will when I have bought enough tissues </div>

26) The Professor (Charlotte Bronte)
I would probably like this book more if I didn't know that the writer was capable of Jane Eyre. Apart from Rochester, the men in Charlotte's world really are quite crap. The protagonist in this is so humourless and po faced, I just feel sorry for the poor girl that ends up with him

Entertaining. Increases my fears of woodland

28) My Cousin Rachel (Daphne du Maurier)
Hokum. The protagonist is so dumb I lose all sympathy for him. She's trying to kill you, you dumbass! Stop following her around like a lovesick puppy! And the end is unintentionally hilarious. I cried tears of laughter it was that random

29) Falling Angels (Tracey Chevalier)
This book is one of those books people call unputdownable. It was glued to my hand from the first page to the last. I hope they make a screen version with Scar-Jo so maybe more people will read it. Hmmmm</div>

30) Tipping The Velvet (Sarah Waters)
Makes me want to be a Victorian Oyster girl turned music hall star turned lesbian male impersonater turned worker's rights campaigner. My life is just so boring in comparison. Really</div>

31) Dance, dance, dance by (Haruki Murakami)
Weird. Splendidly, splendidly weird. Everytime I finish one of his books I'm left totally bzuh? but in a really good way</div>

32) Mrs Dalloway (Virginia Woolf)
I'm trying really hard to remember what happened in this book, but I apparently can't. There was a woman called Mrs Dalloway. She had a party and........

33) The Knight's Tale (Geoffrey Chaucer)
A long poem rather than a novel. Fun to read aloud to sound all Olde English, and then spend half an hour trying to decipher what each line means</div>

34) Lolita (Vladimir Nabokov)
You know when a book is so mindblowingly brilliant you actually have no words to describe it because it just wouldn't be adequate? Well this is that book. If you haven't read it, run to a bookshop right now. Or at least click on Amazon! ;D</div>

35) Art and Lies (Jeanette Winterson)
I'm still confused. I adore the way it's written but I'm still not entirely sure what it's written about. I think that might actually be the point</div>

36) American Psycho (Bret Easton Ellis)
I think this is the first time a book has actually left me feeling nauseus. I loved the bleakness of it, I loved the black humour, I loved the satire, but I need to recover from the trauma before I re read it. I'd say about 10 years should do it.</div>

37) The Post Birthday World (Lionel Shriver)
Appaling. A rip off of sliding doors. And similarly with that film I don't care who she ends up with because the main character has all the personality of a damp dish rag and the two blokes are tossers, and one has a Mockney accent. Eurgh. Just Eurgh</div>
38) The Shadow Lines (Amitav Ghosh)
I liked it but I kind of don't have much of an opinion about it which is probably not a good thing

40) The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Mark Twain)
Assorted schenanigans and hijinks, like Dennis the Menace with an American accent. I liked it but maybe it's more of a boy thing</div>

41) Brideshead Revisted (Evelyn Waugh)
I liked it but it honestly dipped for me once Sebastian took himself and his teddy bear out of the picture because they just honestly owned everyone else in that book

These are all randoms from a little icon making craze I was on recently. I have about a billion leftover Lost icons too but I didn't want LJ to explode so I'll leave them to another day. And anyway, I'm kind of tired with Lost. I can't see three random characters grouped together on TV without going zomg unexpected love triangle! and it's having an averse effect on my metal health. I'm haunted by triangles.
If anyone has a link to really good Prison Break caps that would be appreciated because these ones were dark. I mean seriously, half of the time I was like, oh yeah a nice cap of Sucre, oh no that's Lincoln!

You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute! Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER?since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

01. First Name: Rosaleen. But seriously nobody calls me that. Ever. It's always Rosa. My mum got the name from The Company Of Wolves film. And whenever I go to a foreign country, Ireland, Italy, India (countries beginning with I anyway!) they always say that's where the name originates from. Which is strange. I nearly got called Ruby, but thankfully they abandoned that idea. Not that it's a bad name or anything.... there aren't any Ruby's on my flist are there?

02. Age: 19. Today. Man, I hate birthdays.

03. Location: London. I've lived here since I was about 6/7 years old, I was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and I've lived in other parts of England too, but London always feels like home. I love it.. The people, the places, the atmosphere. I even love the frickin weather. Honestly. When it's hot (you know on that one day a year) I'm like it's too hot, *whines*, where's the rain? My family travel a lot so I've been to lots of different places but seriously, it doesn't matter, wherever I go, no matter how much I love it, I'm always glad to be back in London.

04. Occupation: I'm on my gap year right now before going to uni. I tried to find a job for about five minutes and then I spent the rest of the time sleeping. So shameful. So now I'm not going to think about jobs for another three year while I do my degree. My law degree. Even though I don't want a job in Law. My carrer prospects look really bright, don't they?

05. Partner? Single. And this tells you often that preoccupies my mind, when I saw the question I was like. Partner? Partner for what? Squash? Heh.

06. Kids: I don't think I want kids. I think it's better for the world if I don't have them. They would probably grow up traumatised or something.

07. Brothers/Sisters: I have a 12 year old brother, Liam. You know when I was saying I nearly got called Ruby, well he nearly got called Elvis. Or Orson. For realz! I could write an essay about him and it wouldn't be enough to descrbe what an adorable annoying little freak my brother is. Hahahaha.

08. Pets: I've had so many different pets man. They always die on me. I think they just lose the will to live. Right there were gerbils called Snowy and Chocolate (one was white and one was brown and I was original!). Then there was a cat called Patchy, who had patches. And then there were cats, Snap (he was ginger. Ginger Snap!). Crackle and Pop. Then there was a hamster called Doris. Fuck knows why with that name. Then she had babies and I kept one. It looked crazy and rocked backwards and forwards so we called it Norman Bates. I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

Oh and we're getting a rabbit soon. We're calling it Dog.

09. List the 3-5 biggest things going on in your life:

1) Did I already tell you about Dog? That is obviously the biggest thing. Some people give birth and it changes their lives. I'm getting a rabbit. Which is obviously a whole lot more awesome. We might be getting a cat a few months after too. My brother says that's good. The rabbit will be dead by then *head desk*

2) Much less exciting is that I'm starting university in October. That means moving away from London, and away from my parents for the first time ever and it means sorting out finances, getting loans and scary stuff like that. But Cambridge is only an hour or something away by train so my mum is basically going to come and see me all the freaking time. I don't mind, as long as she brings me food,. I mean I really need to spend the next four months learning how to use a washing machine and how to boil an egg and shit like that. I'll probably die of malnourishment after a week.

3) Omg, I can't even think of a third thing. My life is boring yo! I think you should all make something up for me. Go wild. Use your imagination. Oh wait, I have something! I've discovered Gilmore Girls. About eight years after everyone else. E4 is showing an episode a day, Monday to Friday. We're still on S1, so I'm waiting for Milo Ventimiglia to turn up. I wish I got into hilarious escapades and had a witty comeback for everything. *le sigh*
I'm totally going to make some GG icons.

10. Where and for what did you go to school? School is kind of all encompassing isn't it? Primary and then Secondary and then Sixth Form. But in America, doesn't school, mean like college? or is it high school? All my knowledge garnered from American Teen drama's don't fail me now! Well in short, I'm going to Cambridge to study Law. I finished Sixth Form College, studying English Literature, History, Mathematics, Psychology and I did Critical Thinking as well. Oh and before that was secondary school and I did the usual as well as, French, Design Technology, Physical Education (the horror, the horror) e.t.c. And before that was primary school where I drew pictures all day and then ate the crayons.

11. Parent: My mum is called Sheila. She's a primary school teacher. Arty. She was known as the cool mum among my friends. We're pretty close for a mother and daughter. Not in that icky, my mum is my best friend sort of way. And not like Lorelai and Rory because really who is that awesome?

12. Who are some of your closest friends? When I was at secondary school for about three to five years I hung out with the same bunch of people, and it's a little tragic, but mostly because we went to the same Primary School. It was really fake friendships and after secondary school we went to different sixth forms and I haven't really spoken to any of them much since I was 16. But while I was at secondary school, when I was 12, I met my bestest friend, Amy. She's like a much less evil version of me. She's staying in London for uni, so it'll be weird not seeing her all the time, but I'll be back down here, scrounging for food and wanting my laundary done, and she'll have to come visit me too, so it won't be too strange not seeing her all the time.</div>

You know what? I'm ashamed to admit it but I still haven't watched Meet Kevin Johnson.

Lost is so meh for me right now. And also I made the mistake of reading my f-list and it meant I saw the word 'No' coupled with 'Jack'. It's still on my Sky + though. I'm totally going to make time to watch it today or tomorrow.....
I have to watch it anyway otherwise it'll be the only episode of Lost S4 I haven't iconed and I was having a good run. I actually won best funny icon (Do No Harm) for my ode to simply the greatest Lost character ever *points to icon* at the lost_awards thingy. I've never won anything before. Well apart from a Christmas card competition when I was 10...... *lost in memories*

I love my flist. I'm going to go and (inanely) comment on everyone's journals.
