This pumpkin seed counting game is ready to ‘print and play’ – just grab a dice and you are ready to count out the seeds for a fun pumpkin math activity that’s perfect for autumn/fall or Halloween!
This is a great pumpkin counting activity for preschool, kids will love rolling the dice and counting out each seed. They’ll also be practicing math skills such as number recognition, counting, and subitising (recognising the number of objects in a small group without the needing to count them).
For a challenge there is also a simple addition version of the pumpkin seed counting game, so it’s easy to differentiate for students in your classroom, or to choose the version your kids will enjoy most for some fun learning at home.
Pumpkin Seed Counting Game
These pumpkin counting worksheets are a quick and easy, print and go, math activity that is great for kids aged 3+. Perfect for an autumn/fall learning theme, for Halloween, or even for a garden or vegetable theme.
Supplies
- Pumpkin see counting game printables (see below to download)
- Scissors
- Dice or spinner.
- pencil or pen (optional)
Almost everything you need to use this pumpkin seed math activity is included in this free printable pack. Once you’ve printed the game mats, cut out the pumpkin seeds, grab a dice or a spinner and you are ready to play!
You could also use pom poms, buttons, or real pumpkin seeds as the counters if you’d like to.
How to Play
Begin by choosing which pumpkin seed counting game is best for your child – the counting game, or the addition game.
To play the pumpkin seed counting game simply roll the dice to find out how many seeds to add to add to the pumpkin, then count out the seeds and put them on the pumpkin.
To play the simple addition pumpkin seed math game you’ll need two dice (or roll one dice, or spin the spinner twice). Roll both dice and put one in each circle to make an addition sum. Then put the number of seeds shown on each dice onto the pumpkin, count all the seeds to get the answer.
There is a space to write the sum and the answer if you wish, and you might like to laminate the pumpkin seed addition game mat and use a dry erase marker so you can use it over and over.

This printable pumpkin seed math game includes two differentiated pumpkin counting worksheets – one for counting and one for simple addition. There is also a page of pumpkin seeds to print to use as counters.
This printable is an A4 sized pdf file, you will need a pdf reader such as adobe acrobat to open it. It will fit to print on US ‘letter sized’ paper, just be sure to select ‘fit’ or ‘shrink to fit’ from your printer options to allow for printer margins.
