Sponsoring PHPUnit

Why your support matters

PHPUnit is the most widely used testing framework in the PHP ecosystem. Its goal is to provide and maintain a solid, up-to-date foundation for developer-side testing in PHP.

Ongoing work includes keeping pace with every new PHP release, fixing bugs promptly, improving the documentation, and implementing new features that enhance the developer experience and support modern testing practices.

I am Sebastian Bergmann, the creator and lead maintainer of PHPUnit. Every change that goes into PHPUnit is reviewed and validated by me. Every release ships with the awareness that it will be installed hundreds or thousands of times within minutes. You are not paying for code, you are paying for that responsibility. I will continue maintaining and developing PHPUnit regardless of the level of sponsorship I receive. But your support allows me to dedicate focused time to the project instead of fitting it around evenings and weekends. If PHPUnit is part of your workflow, I would like to ask for that support.

Guiding Principles

A few things worth knowing before you sponsor:

  • Sponsorship does not grant influence over the project's roadmap.
  • Features, bug fixes, and priorities are not for sale.
  • They are decided based on what is best for the project and its users.
