Yikes.
My friend just brought to my attention that my main site is displaying an error message having to do with the DB:
Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)
This worried me at first, because I hadn't uploaded anything lately and everything had been working fine just yesterday. I did remember, however, that I had changed some permissions, and was hoping that might be the cause. I went to my admin panel, browsed the filesystem, but found nothing that would cause it. After that, I decided to check my databases to see if maybe some information had gotten screwed up somehow.
Here's the awesome part... Not only are all of my databases gone, but phpMyAdmin is rejecting the same username and pass that I used to log into my admin panel just fine. I tried creating a database through the admin panel, and then a user to assign to it. Nothing appeared. I went to check my mail to see if, perhaps, my hosting guy had sent me anything explaining the errors, only to find this after logging in:
A fatal error has occurred:
DB Error: connect failed
[line 108 of /usr/local/cpanel/base/horde/lib/Prefs/s ql.php]
Details have been logged for the administrator.
Now, I'm almost positive that the error is on the hosts end. I know the guy, and emailed him right away (this just happened), but he's not online right now so I really don't know when he's going to respond. Oddly enough, he hasn't been online in awhile.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knew exactly what's going on. I'm no guru by any means, and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. My guess is either his system crashed, and some information was lost, or possibly some sort of successful crack attempt. Any info is greatly appreciated.
