Thanks to everyone who replied to my last post. A lot of the comments brought up the same response, so I decided to make a whole new post instead.

I am actually getting the plural words from a textbox the user submits to the script. As such, I never have to pluralize a base word, only detect and unpluralize words. The detection does not need to be 100% accurate. The user actually confirms a small selection of words  that are longer than 3 characters. These selections come in groups of four words, and usually 2 to 5 selections based on the submitted textbox.
