Endeavour
Just finished watching the latest season of Endeavour and I don’t think I’ve ever had a character I changed my opinion of so strongly as Bright. In the first seasons I thought he was awful. Then he turned out to be unexpectedly brave and decent, but this most recent season!
The pelican! How he takes command and gets his Traffic team straight to work when the tower block collapses and Box flails! His polite, mildly-spoken fuck you to the people who try to bribe him, his expression as he turns down the offer of an experimental treatment for his wife if the cost is his integrity, the way you see him prepare to face his death - and then is saved by a mob of squealing children who know and love him as the pelican policeman! I love Morse and Thursday a great deal (and watching Morse save Thursday from himself with one sentence was a thing of beauty) but in this season I think I might love Bright most of all.
