The Science of Textiles! - American Helicopter Museum and Education Center

Did you know computers wouldn't exist without textile technology?? Textiles are embedded in our everyday life - they make up our clothes and furniture, have medical and technological applications, and are a significant part of aircraft development. How much do you know about their properties and how they’re made? In this workshop, students ages 7-12 will look at the materials and properties of common textiles from linen to Kevlar, learn about their scientific applications, and do some textile testing and dyeing ourselves! This is a great opportunity to learn the science behind the art of textiles, and to create textile art to take home!
