21 Days of Kuroshitsuji Fest

21 Days of Kuroshitsuji is a three-week anonymous fanfiction and fanart fest designed as a sort of rapid-fire kink meme. Prompts begin Oct. 4; fills begin Oct. 11; fills end on Oct. 24, and [optional] reveals happen Oct. 25. Rules and format will be the same as the recently completed 21 Days of Thedas.

All prompts are welcome; all fills are welcome if they fit the prompt. Our minimum wordcount for written fills is 100 words, and multiple fills are highly encouraged. Pre-party discussion is now open on our Discussion Post - feel free to join the fun and say hello in our un-anonymous Introduction Thread, whether you want to prompt, fill, or spectate!

In order to complete the challenge, you must complete a fanwork for Ring 1, Ring 2, and Ring 3, in that order!

For the purpose of this challenge, a fanwork can be:

The whispers and laughter of the crowd has died away. The circus folk are watching you now with something resembling respect. Is this it? Will they allow you into their midst, let you complete your task for the queen?

"Amazing!" Joker exclaims. "I didn't reckon you'd make it across!" Then he frowns, giving you a speculative glance. "But not so fast . . ."

Now for an announcement!
As the spirit of this challenge was to encourage the creation of more fanworks in the Kuroshitsuji fandom, it feels counterproductive to limit participation in the next two rings to only three people. Therefore, I have decided to amend the rules slightly. While it is still mandatory to complete the first ring before entering the second, participants will now be allowed to submit amnesty entries for previous rings. In other words, even if you did not complete Ring 1 before the deadline, you are still eligible to enter Ring 2 -- as long as you complete an entry for Ring 1 first. Similarly, if you miss the Ring 1 and 2 deadlines but still want to enter Ring 3, you can quickly complete entries for the first two challenges in order to have your Ring 3 entry count. Does that make sense?

However, you will still need to complete each ring by its deadline in order to earn a personalized banner like the ones below:

Get ready for a three-ring extravaganza of daring and devilry!

Ring 1 opens July 27

Come one, come all, and join the Kuroshitsuji Fanworks Circus! To prove yourself, you will need to conquer three challenges, one for each ring in the Big Top! Each challenge will consist of three images, chosen by the ringmaster. Your task is to choose one of those images and create a fanwork inspired by it.

To successfully audition for the Fanworks Circus, you must complete an entry for each ring. In other words, you have to complete Ring 1 in order to enter the Ring 2 challenge. If you completed Ring 1, but not Ring 2, you can't enter Ring 3. Get the point? Each ring is open for roughly two weeks -- ~~you must submit your entry before the ring closes in order to successfully move on~~ (see the schedule below).

Edit (8/9/14): Participants will now be allowed to submit amnesty entries for previous rings. In other words, even if you did not complete Ring 1 before the deadline, you are still eligible to enter Ring 2 -- as long as you first complete a late entry for Ring 1. Similarly, if you miss the Ring 1 and 2 deadlines but still want to enter Ring 3, you can quickly complete entries for the first two challenges in order to be eligible for Ring 3.

How do you enter?
You can post your fanworks directly to this community, to AO3, or to your own journal or Tumblr. Wherever you decide to post, you should post a link at phantomhive. Be sure to mention that it is for the challenge, and either include a link to the picture(s) you used as inspiration or post the picture(s) in your entry.
