Studiolo is a series of essays on objects, books, and early technologies, written in the spirit of the chockablock Renaissance study from which it takes its name. Drawing primarily from the collections of Carnegie Mellon University’s Posner Center for Special Collections, each essay lingers over a single artifact. More than essayistic description, Studiolo is an exercise in sustained attention: a place where historical objects become instruments for thought and inquiry.
