In 2015, we discovered how everyday educators can leverage neuropsychology and neuroimaging research to help students. The results were exceptional in the best way. The science is there, waiting for everyone to see it and use it. And yet:
Nearly all learning science relies on mechanistic understandings of the brain.
The reality is more complex: all brains compensate to get around unavailable neural pathways, but these compensation patterns don’t require fMRIs to see. They’re detectable by everyday educators, parents, even the students themselves.
Cognitive Compensation works for all learners because it happens in all learners
Penelope Education helps schools, teachers, administrators, districts look at learning from a systems level: both the complex systems of the brain itself and the systems of our world. We create policy, qualitative data systems, professional development, and experts.
We center anti-ableism, anti-racism, and feminism
Weave connections between every essential pedagogy.
Weave tapestries out of equitably and ethically created labeled data.
See the patterns of every unique human for what they are.
Unravel error.
Weave the future.

Podcast Appearance: Human Restoration Project
The Human Restoration Project is an incredible non-profit for all educators. Their resources are immense, ranging from pamphlets dissecting the moral panic around learning loss to their annual Conference To Restore Humanity, a radical reimagining of how we share knowledge, praxis, and community with one another. Michael Weingarth, founder of Penelope Education, joins Nick Covington…
Webinar Recording: Independent School Admissions Without the SSAT
Learn why there’s no easy substitutes for the SSAT, then learn how to build your own brain-based admissions approach.
Want to work with us?
We consult with schools, non-profits, and other educational organizations to install better supports for neurodiverse or struggling learners, install data systems that account for and compensate around complex learning profiles, and initiate large scale curricular or cultural change.
