Our Services…

From sample design right the way through to full production and delivery, Pelican takes great pride in maintaining an extremely high standard of customer service.

This is achieved by drawing on the knowledgeable workforce and their ability, attention to detail and pride in quality control.

Design

The vastly experienced and accomplished design team at Pelican can work accurately from a basic customer brief to create structural and presentational concepts that secure and display your product to the best possible effect.

A sample service is provided where mock-ups are supplied to the customer in order to test the water prior to full level production being undertaken.

Production

At each stage of production, Pelican ensures the highest quality control is maintained and ensures that no stone is left unturned in supplying the best standard of product achievable.

Laminating

For laminated flatpack cartons or back lined rigid boxes, the laminator marks the start of the boxes production process.

This machine enables the easy lamination of printed or coloured paper to either solid folding carton board, protective fluted corrugated board or rigid presentation box board.

Pelican’s experienced workforce guarantees the highest standard of lamination, whilst using environmentally friendly materials whenever possible.

Die-Cutting

An essential part of the production process, Pelican uses die-cutting machines to cut rigid, corrugated, solid board and paper sheets into the style and size that the customer requires.

This is done using stencil layouts known as cutting formes. These formes are created once the product has gone through the design stage and is ready for production.

The sheets are then individually entered into the machines manually before being stripped out of the recyclable waste and sent on to the next stage of production.

Hot Foil Stamping

If you wish to improve the presentation of a box whilst enhancing your brand with a personalised logo, foil stamping is an excellent means by which to do so.

Whilst avoiding the extra costs of printing it also achieves an authentic and individual looking product. The boxes are foil blocked using embossing dies, which are created from the image of a logo or brand name.

All you need to do is choose which colour foil you desire and where on the box you wish the logo to be presented.

Carton Gluing

The gluing machine is the final stage of production for flatpack cartons and enables the fast and efficient output of various styles and sizes of product.

The boxes are stacked and fed at the head of the machine, before the glue is applied and the boxes are folded whilst running along the gluing belts.

Once deposited onto a conveyor the freshly glued products can be packed in flatpack form into appropriately sized shipping outers.

Rigid Box Finishing

The rigid box finishing department relies upon the precise and thorough attention to detail supplied by the highly experienced workforce. This guarantees a supreme standard of finished product with quality control being of the upmost priority.

After the rigid box blanks have been die-cut, they are transferred in to the finishing department and are first corner stayed using the staying machine, pictured on the left below.

The stayed boxes are then transferred on to the hand gluing tables, where the previously cut paper is fed into the machine and the glue applied.

Once deposited, the papers are laid out on to the gluing tables where the precise and highly skilled hand gluers position the rigid box blanks onto the paper and fold them into position to cover the box.

This marks the end of the rigid box production, with the products being packed neatly and efficiently into the appropriate sized outers ready for dispatch.

Compliance

Pelican works hard to make sure its social and environmental responsibility is fulfilled, using recyclable, biodegradable paper and board and ensuring that any adhesives used in production are compliant with current regulations.
