Animations - House

Another House time !
Before the icons, I made the large animation. There are 8 of them, so feel free to use them :D

From: to:
Program: Photoshop CS4
Difficulty: Easy (screenshots)
With: selective color, curves, levels and color balance
+ examples

Step 1
Open an image with a lot of yellow/blue or green. If you use an image with a lot of red it will be too much yellow.
So use summer colors :)

Step 2
If your picture is too dark, you can duplicate it and put in on screen.
Set that layer on a opacity what you like, because it depends on your image.
I used 63%. Now your picture is nog too bright, but now are your darker colours more summerful.

Go to layer - new adjustment layer - hue and saturation
Master saturation: +18
Now your image have more colors. The dull colors are now harder.

Step 3
Go to layers - new adjustment layers - levels
Black: +8
Grey: 1,26
White: 250
Now your image is a bit brigher, but not too bright like the screen layer.
And the darker parts in the image are just a bit darker. It looks like the image has more depth

Step 4
Go to layers - new adjustment layers - color balance
Midtones:
+4
+17
+3
Now your image is a bit more yellow, the colors are a bit warmer

Step 5
Go to layers - new adjustment layer - selective color
With these settings

Now the darker colors are a bit brighter and are yellow/redisch.
Now it machtches better with the yellow colors.

Step 6
Go to layer - new adjustment layer - curves
Point 1
Output: 71
Input: 79
Point 2
Output: 193
Input: 186
It must look like this:

Now there is a bit more contrast in the picture. You can also skip this part, it depends on your image.
But if you do this step your colors are harder.

Step 7
Just make a new layer and fill it with : #ebf1e7
You must put the blendmodus on color burn with an opancity of 100%
Now the lighter colors will be darker.

This is the end result:

First Icon Tutorial

Other Examples:

Step 1
Open a new image with a bit red or pictures with grey/white or blue, so that the coloring match your image.

Step 2
Go to Layer - new adjustmentlayer - Brightness and Contast.
Brightness: 39
Contrast: 15
Set this layer to screen and change the opacity to 75%.

Now your icon looks like this:
I did this because now your image is brighter, but not to bright with screen. It works fine with light pictures and darker pictures.

Step 3
Go to layer - new adjustment layer - Color Balance.
With the following settings:
Midtones
+23
-2
-13

Now Your icon looks like this:
I did this just because it bring more warm color back into their faces. But I also want to bring much harder colors in the background, so that will be the next step.

Step 4
Create another layer - new adjustment layer - Hue and saturation
With the following settings:
Master saturation: 10
Red Tones saturation: 32
Blue Saturation: 42
I did this because now your background and the faces have their color back, and it looks more harder. But unfortunately the contrast is a bit gone. So we should do something about that.

Step 5
Create a new layer - new adjustment layer - curven
Create 2 points.
1 in the shadow tones:
output: 56
Input: 66
1 in the highlights
Output: 198
Input: 190
The curve looks like this:

Curves are needed because it wil bring back your contrast in your icon.

This is what you've got, I hope you like your result:
