In A Movie Of Our Life

Title: In The Movie Of Our Life
Author: Ricey (just me)
Rating: PG (who knew I could write without cussing)
Disclaimer: Gimmie a F! Gimmie a A! Gimmie a K! Gimmie a E!
Summary: Watching movies, hugging memories, chasing kisses...all to show that we love and live.
Author's Note: So I read a HP story that had this same layout and I'd link it, but I can't find it for the life of me. Watching my sister interact with her first child is making me feel mushy and euphoric, possibly the explaination of this coming about. His name is pronounced "Reese", spelling errors aren't errors but on purpose, and I don't live in ChiTown so I don't know how the weather is in September but where I live in Cali it's nipply so I'm going with that. And enjoy. X-posted at the hotspots, patrickxpeter & peterickfics. And a big big thanks to megyal for running through it as a beta and making things better for me.

"And play nice with the other kids." Patrick kisses the top of his five year's woolly cap.

"If they want to fight, kick their butt, kiddo." Pete smiles down at the boy. "Show them what Uncle Joe taught you."

"Don't do anything of the sort, Rhys Quintin." Patrick swats at the boy's butt and sends him into the warm room of his kindergarten class. He sighs and leans against Pete, who wraps an arm around him. "Our boy is growing up, Pete."

Pete waves back at their son and steers Patrick back to the car. "Yeah, he is...our son."

"A kid? You want to adopt a kid?" Patrick raised an eyebrow at Pete. "Since when did you even LIKE kids?"

"Cause I never grew up." Pete smiled. "Come on. Just imagine us with a kid. We'll have a house over on Keen Drive, a big backyard, a studio for you to work out of, raise our family in Chicago." He leaned against Patrick and kissed his neck. "It'll be perfect."

Patrick grabbed Pete and stared into his eyes. "Seriously? You want to start a family with me?"

Pete cupped Patrick's face, showering his face with kisses. "You balance me out, keep me grounded. You're the reason I was placed on this earth and have stayed on this earth. You're the only person I can stand, day and night, every minute of every hour." He kissed him on his full lips and placed a small kiss on the corner of his mouth. "There's no one else I'd ever dream of starting a family with."

Patrick grinned lazily. "Well if you put it that way...boy or girl?"

"Rhys, if you hit that dog one more time, you will NOT like the outcome," Patrick scolded his two year old son. "Now, say sorry to Hemmy."

Rhys looked at him, his angelic face scrunched up. "Sowwy? Hem-Hem?"

Patrick nodded and pushed him to the dog, who raised his head, eyes drooping with old age. "Yes, Hemmy. Now say sorry."

Rhys spread-eagled his small body over the prone form of the dog, smacking a loud kiss to the top of his head. "Sowwy Hem-Hem."

"What, he hit the dog again?" Pete asked from the doorway, undoing his work tie and setting down his briefcase.

"Pa!" Rhys flung himself into Pete's open arms, who scooped him up and kissed his cheek. "I hit mah head!"

Pete chuckled and ran his hands over the boy's dark locks, his fingers finding a small bump. "Well, you sure did. What happened?"

"He decided to try out someone's old skateboard he found while we cleaned the garage," Patrick answered, giving Pete a kiss on the cheek. "I've asked you repeatedly to put that up in the attic."

Pete smiled and tucked the young boy under his neck. "He's got a little of me, he's built tough."

"He also has half of me, so that means he bruises like rotten fruit."

Pete smiled at Patrick. "But perfect fruit."

"She's my dad's sister's daughter's niece, a lesbian and so cute that I want to slap myself." Pete bounced up and down. "So she's totally cool with us being...well, us. And she has our skin tone, our eye-shape, the trademark Wentz smile." He flashed said smile at Patrick. "And her mom is like my favorite aunt and we grew up together, so she was like lesbian-cool from the start and she isn't interested in kids but loves me so much she's happy to do this. And -"

"Okay, shut up," Patrick snapped. He pushed up his wire-frame glasses and looked at Pete. "First of all, hello." He kissed Pete, smiling at his bright face. "Second of all, what's with this whole "lesbian-cool" thing you keep babbling about?"

Pete hopped up onto the counter and watched Patrick cut up tomatoes. "Because she is. Well I'm not sure if she's a lesbian but she'd make a good one."

Patrick giggled. "You're an idiot."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Pete waved his hand, grinning at Patrick. "So? Wanna meet her, at
least?"

"Well yes, of course I want to -"

"Okay, cool." Pete jogged out of the kitchen and out the front door. Before Patrick could even call out to Pete he came back in the kitchen, a girl on his arm. "Amanda, meet the man of my dreams."

"Hi, I've heard wonderful things about you."

Patrick wiped his hands on a towel before placing his hand in hers. He figured she topped out at 5'5", being more legs than anything else. Though he had to hand it to Pete, she was cute. Her eyes were Pete's except a crystal blue, her nose wasn't anything like Pete's (thank the lord for small favors) and true to his word, she had the same infectious smile that his life-partner had.

"Hi Amanda, nice to meet you." Patrick gave Pete a shadow of a wink before turning back to Amanda. "Staying for dinner?"

Fast Forward

"And the pediatrician's number is on the fridge. And he doesn't like watching Spongebob anymore, Ryan got him hooked on some new cartoon that's out. And Rhys likes apple juice as his last cup, not grape. Don't forget -"

"Dude we got this," Travis said. He patted Will's leg. "Don't we?"

Will nodded. "Yes, now go before you're late."

"Come on babe, they'll be fine."

Pete turned to Patrick, his eyes wide with discomfort. "I don't know if we should leave."

Patrick chuckled and moved their babbling three year old from one hip to the other. "It'll be fine Pete. We are playing a super small show, we won't be long."

"Yeah man," Travis called from inside the fridge. "We'll be fine. Everything will be fine and Rhys will be taken care of."

Will laughed and wiggled his fingers at a flustering Pete. "And your little dog too."

"See!"

Patrick laughed and kissed the side of Pete's face. "He's kidding. Now come on, already." He turned to his son, kissing his cheek loudly before giving him to Pete. "We'll be back soon Rhys, Uncle Will and Uncle Travis are gonna be here tonight."

Pete hugged his boy tightly. "Daddy and Papa love you and we'll be back really really soon." He kissed his head and gave him to Will. "Be good."

"Bye bye Pa. Bye bye Daddy." Rhys clumsily waved at Pete and Patrick. He turned to Will, excitement over spending a night with his Uncles overruling the sadness of his parents leaving him. "We pay games?"

Pete, looking heartbroken, left the room with a chuckling Patrick. "Don't laugh, he doesn't even REALIZE we're gone."

Patrick smiled. "He's three, he's too enthralled that he'll get to do anything he wants with Will and Travis there."

"Pa!" Pete turned around and caught Rhys running out to them. "You leeb? I go wiff?"

Pete gave Patrick a look. "Cancel the show, my baby needs me."

Rewind

"Left Dirty, I said left," Pete screamed from the passengers seat. "When I say left, I mean LEFT!"

"Pete, shut up," Dirty told him, whipping the SUV around a corner. "This is a shortcut."

Pete hit Dirty on the head as he sped down a rural street. "I don't want a shortcut, I want the right way!"

"Stop man, look." Dirty fishtailed around another turn before skidding into the hospital parking lot.
"Told you."

Pete was out of the car and in the entrance way before Dirty had turned the car off. Deciding that stairs would be faster, Pete sprinted up the four flights to Labor And Delivery. He skipped to a stop at the nurses station. "Wentz?"

"Room five, deary," an elderly nurse smiled. "They just brought the baby back. Congrats, Daddy."

"Thanks," Pete shouted before running down and throwing open the door. "Sorry, Dirty got us caught in traffic and I was way on the west side and -"

"Shh," Patrick said from the corner of the room. "She's sleeping."

"Sorry," Pete whispered. He gave Amanda a kiss on the forehead before making his way to Patrick. He leaned down and stared at the tiny bundle in blue in his arms. "He's beautiful."

Patrick nodded, looking up at Pete, diamond-sized tears trickling down his cheeks. "He's our son, Pete."

Pete kissed his newborn's head and then Patrick's capped one. "Yeah Patrick...our baby boy."

"Where is he? I can't see him. God, he got your height or lack thereof."

"You know, it was your sperm we used," Pete muses from inside the passenger seat. "So it's your fault."

Patrick blindly swats at him. "Shut up, help me find him." Patrick stands on his toes and searches the mass of kids. "He should've been out here by now."

"Look here he comes, you can stop your bitching." Pete points to the familiar purple and orange "Training Wheels" kid's jacket their son is wearing. "Told you I was thinking of him when I created that kids' line."

Patrick ignores him and scoops up their boy. "Oh Rhys! How was school?"

"So much fun Daddy!" The young boy cries happily. He leans his small head into the crook of Patrick's neck and grins at Pete. "My teacher said she liked my jacket and suspenders."

Pete leans forward, touching his lips to his son's forehead. "Well, they are pretty cool."

Patrick hitches up Rhys and snuggles his nose against the boy's cheek. "Let's go get warm somewhere."

"McDonald's?!"

Patrick's grin falters a little bit but he moves them towards the backseat. "Yes... for the second time this week."

Pete slides over to the driver's seat and starts up the car. He turns back in time to see Patrick and Rhys giving each other a smile: Rhys' is dimpled and so cute Pete wants to pinch him, out of sheer delight; Patrick's is adorable and full of music, love and slightly teary. Pete turns forward, smiling to himself, silently thanking the world and every God out there for this moment.

"What's the smile for?" Patrick asks, tucking Rhys into the car-seat and climbing into the passenger side to buckle himself in.

Pete merely leans over to kiss his life partner, still smiling inside his heart. "Our son Patrick...and our life."
