because it makes me sweat.
Patrick is nervous

and Pete is dreamy

okay, I am embarrassed! I was duped! and I think the majority of y'all are right that this isn't pete cuz:
doesn't quite look right.
I've honestly just never questioned it before... so my apologies. (though it's kinda thrilling that I caused such uproar!)

Pete’s jaw dropped

okay really, I just find this picture funny.

Pete thought about trying to catch Patrick on his way to class the next morning, or possibly checking out the library, but decided that maybe he didn’t want to come on too strong (re: stalkerish) after he had freaked Patrick out the night before.

He hadn’t thought he’d misjudge so badly. He bought him coffee and teased him; Patrick blushed so often and smiled for him. Pete had never had this issue before. No, really. Never.

But Pete could fix this, he would. He would apologize and laugh it off and then they could still be friends.

Pete waited an entire day, choosing to see Patrick at his next lecture instead, when he would be armed with coffee and Patrick would be unable to run away. Sitting in his normal chair, Pete arrived early to wait for Patrick. He clutched two coffee cups in his hands while keeping an eye on the door.

Patrick walked into the hall a few minutes before eight and looked right at Pete. Something passed over his face; just like on that second day of class, he looked to be weighing his options. Except this time he turned and walked straight back out.

Pete’s jaw dropped. He hadn’t really expected that. Jumping up to follow Patrick, he sloshed the hot coffee over the edges of the cups, scalding himself and spilling on the floor. He jogged down the steps of the hall and towards the door as quickly as he could with two cups of hot liquid, but by the time he was out the door, he couldn’t spot Patrick anywhere. Pete cursed and flung both full cups into a trash can, spattering even more hot coffee back onto his jeans.

    “Well, fuck!”

Patrick’s reaction seemed extreme to Pete and that scared him. Patrick had a temper, sure, but for the little things, like the small jibes and terrible nicknames. This was apparently not a little thing. Basically, Pete realized that he had fucked up.

Under this light, Pete thought maybe he wouldn’t try to catch Patrick outside his dorm.
But, he could still legitimately come to lectures and try to talk to him there.

At the next lecture Pete came into the hall and seeing that Patrick wasn’t in his seat, took up station outside the door to wait for him.

    Patrick never showed.

Pete did the same thing the next week, again after seeing that Patrick wasn’t in his seat he stood at the door. And again Patrick didn’t show up.

At this point Pete decided that maybe if it was a big enough deal that Patrick would skip classes over it, it was a big enough deal that they probably weren’t going to be friends anymore.

    So, Pete gave up.
