Notes Me again, with a slightly short Chapter 2. It was difficult to write and I don't know why exactly but it's out. Hopefully the next part will come easier.

PreviousChapter One

It was just an ordinary school morning. Except that he was waking up beside Pete. He was waking up with Pete in his bed, and with Pete’s hand playing with the waist of his flannel pajama pants. His thumb was just under the waistline, tracing random patterns on Patrick’s skin and if he didn’t stop soon, there was going to be a slight problem. He could already feel himself getting turned on. Then, was that? No it wasn’t. Was it? Pete snuggled in closer to Patrick and oh God – it was. He could feel it brushing against his ass and he bit his lip to suppress his moan. He had to get out of there. Disentangling himself, he ran to the bathroom for an ice cold shower.

When he came back Pete was awake. He looked at Patrick in a way Patrick couldn’t begin to understand. He grabbed his hand and pulled him back down on the bed and they lay together. Foreheads pressed together, breaths mingling. Pete never broke eye contact with Patrick, and entwined their fingers.

“Morning.”

“Morning. Did you sleep okay?”

“I can’t remember the last time I woke up this rested.”

“Good. I’m glad it helped. I mean I’m glad you-”

He was cut off by Pete’s soft smile. And by Pete’s rough hands on his jaw.

“I don’t know anyone who would do what you did for me last night. Thank you.”

“I didn’t do anything.”

Pete smiled.

“That’s why you’re my best friend. You get me through one of my worst nights, and you think nothing of it.”

He felt his heart swell with joy in that moment. Pete thought he was his best friend. His best friend. Then the reality came crashing in. He was in love with his best friend. And Pete would never forgive him if he ever found out.

It was an ordinary school morning when Patrick decided to get over Pete.

*

It was an ordinary Saturday when Patrick had his first “date” with Sam. They went to a movie and then for some coffee. She was amazing. Patrick couldn’t believe he could get a girl like her. Sad part was, the whole time he was wishing she was an inch taller, with short black hair, and wore too much eyeliner. She made him laugh though. And she hadn’t laughed at him when she had seen him naked. That was also a good thing.
So at the end of the date, when he said he’d call her, he meant it.

He got home to find a tired looking Pete on his doorstep. They hadn’t seen each other since that morning. He looked like shit.

“Hey, sorry to just stop by, I didn’t know you had a date.”

“It’s okay. What’s up?”

“Nothing, it’s cool. So who was the girl?”

“Sam, from the party a few weeks ago.”

“The one we went to together?”

“Yeah. We kinda hooked up. So I called her this week.”

“Define hooked up” Pete was smirking. Patrick just looked uncomfortable.

When Patrick didn’t respond, Pete looked like all his Christmases had come at once. His eyes lit up and his grin got even bigger if that was possible.

“Oh my god. You had sex with her.”

Suddenly, Patrick’s shoes were the most interesting things in the world to him. He would never admit how much Pete’s joy at this news hurt. Would even a slight bit of negativity, even an awkward cough be too much to ask?

“So what if I did?”

“That’s great man. Seriously, it’s about time! Well done! She’s hot”

“Yeah”

Pete must have picked up on Patrick’s unease because next thing Patrick knew it was like the conversation had never happened.

Almost.

“So I don’t want to piss off you’re woman and all” Pete grinned, “but I haven’t slept in days. You think you could help me out?”

Something tightened in Patrick’s chest. Pete wanted to sleep with him again. Just say no. Just say no. You’ll never get over him sharing a bed. Something on Pete’s face made him not care a whole lot about getting over him.

“Yeah, come on.” Patrick casually pushed Pete towards the door. “I’m pretty beat myself.”

They lay beside each other in the dark. Neither asleep but neither too sure what to say. Patrick felt Pete move and then, they were holding hands under the covers.

“Patrick?”

“Yeah Pete?”

“I’m happy for you. Just make sure she’s good enough for you. Promise me you won’t settle. You deserve someone who sees every bit of how amazing you are.”

Patrick felt a lump at the back of his throat and his eyes sting.

“Thanks.” One word was all he managed to choke out.

They lay in silence again. Still holding hands.

A half hour later they were still awake.

“Pete?”

“Yeah”

“Do you mind if? Can we? I just, let’s not talk about her okay? I know best friends are meant to talk about girls and shit, but let’s not.”

“You’re right. This is us; no one else should come into it.”

Patrick felt Pete squeeze his hand, heard him yawn and then felt a weight on his shoulder and an arm around his waist.

“Night Patrick.”

“Night Pete.”

Pete was already asleep. Patrick didn’t sleep a wink that night.

It was an ordinary Saturday when Patrick realised he was in too deep to get out.

So that's it. I don't know if I captured what I was going for. But I tried with what mediocre skills I have. Concrit is helpful :)
