Writer of fiction. Horror, speculative, a smattering of sci-fi. The real world is brutal, and I try to make sense of it through fiction. I have one serialized novel up on Substack, with another coming in 2026.
There are a several set pieces of fantasy that I think have been terribly overdone and which can't stand to read including vampires... chosen ones... and dragons -- but Judith Ashcraft absolutely blew me away with a short little piece titled, "Hatteras and the Dragon." Her descriptive language during the coming of the dragon and the utterly ballsy response of the human sea captain to this impossibly large creature -- I think I could have read a thousand more pages of this story.
