Working Class History

History is not made by the actions of a few rich and powerful individuals, like so much of the history we learn in school. History is made by the combined everyday actions of hundreds of millions of us: women, men, youth, people of colour, migrants, Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ+ people, disabled people, workers, the unemployed, housewives - the working class. Our project is dedicated to all those who have struggled in the past for a better world, and who continue to do so now. We have multiple podcasts and social media outlets, publish books and host an interactive website and global map of people's history. We are committed to being completely independent, and making our history available to everyone, so apart from our exclusive Patreon-only content, most of our work is available free for all. We are not academics or experts, we are just ordinary workers doing this on our own time to try to help educate and inspire a new generation of activists with lessons from the past. So the more supporters we have more we will be able to do: we will be able to make our podcast better quality, and more frequent, and we will be able to remunerate more fairly the individuals who currently put in countless hours unpaid or with a token payment, we will be able to pay for more research materials, we will be able to fund the web services we use for our online projects, we will be able to transcribe and translate more materials into more languages, and we will be able to fund additional research to uncover unknown parts of our history. Depending on level, our supporters get early access to our podcast episodes without ads, plus two exclusive podcast series – Fireside Chats and Radical Reads, as well as other bonus episodes, discounted and free merch, and other benefits. So we would love you to join us to help record and popularise our grassroots, people's history, as opposed to the top-down accounts of most history books.
