Hi! I'm Catherine. You might know me from reading my <a href="https://twitter.com/whitequark" target="_blank">Twitter</a> or my <a href="https://lab.whitequark.org" target="_blank">lab notebook</a>, or because you've used some of my <a href="https://github.com/whitequark">projects</a>. I really like software and hardware—this is the world I'm most comfortable in. I also think there are many areas, especially in hardware, where our existing tools are outdated, baroque, or just not good enough, so that's what I do: make better tools! I contribute to and maintain a number of software and hardware projects that I feel could benefit everyone working in that area: <ul><li>My latest project, <a href="https://github.com/GlasgowEmbedded/Glasgow" target="_blank">Glasgow</a>, is a hardware multitool; one device to reprogram an SPI flash, debug a microcontroller via JTAG, capture display of a GameBoy Color, recover data from a floppy disk, stream music from  or really do anything that can be done with USB and 16 digital pins at 50 MHz;</li><li>I maintain <a href="https://github.com/amaranth-lang/amaranth">Amaranth</a>, a Python-based language for describing synchronous digital circuits;</li><li>I contribute to <a href="https://github.com/YosysHQ/yosys/">Yosys</a>, an open-source FPGA synthesis tool (Glasgow would not be possible without Migen and Yosys!);</li><li>I've implemented and maintain <a href="https://github.com/whitequark/groupXIV">groupXIV</a>, a web interface for viewing silicon microphotography;</li><li>... as well as <a href="https://github.com/whitequark">many other</a> projects too niche to describe in detail here.</li></ul>All of my work, where possible, is released to public domain or closest equivalent. I wouldn't be providing any Patreon tiers or rewards—all of my work is public in the first place—but I will describe anything I end up working on, in a hopefully more coherent and detailed way than I do on Twitter.
