Joshua Luna

Hi, my name is Joshua Luna. I'm a Filipino-American comic book creator, writer and artist. I've been in the comic book industry since 2004. I'm the co-creator, writer and artist of <a href="https://www.comixology.com/Ultra-Seven-Days/digital-comic/17269" rel="nofollow">ULTRA</a>, <a href="https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/girls-vol-1-conception-tp-mr-new-ptg" rel="nofollow">GIRLS</a>, and <a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/1582408793" rel="nofollow">THE SWORD</a>, all published by Image Comics. I also provided art for SPIDER-WOMAN: ORIGIN (Marvel Comics), written by Brian Michael Bendis and Brian Reed. <a href="https://imagecomics.com/comics/releases/whispers-tp" rel="nofollow">WHISPERS</a> is my first solo work, published in 2012 (also by Image Comics). I am currently working on another creator-owned comic book project, which I am incredibly excited about, but is yet to be announced.  In my "spare time," I've been making comic strips and other art (which you can find on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/joshualunacreations" rel="nofollow">Facebook</a>, <a href="https://twitter.com/Joshua_Luna" rel="nofollow">Twitter</a> and <a href="http://joshualunacreations.tumblr.com" rel="nofollow">Tumblr</a> pages) to continue to engage fans and supporters as well as stay sane during the lengthy, challenging, and often silent pre-launch process. My comic strips encompass a variety of topics, including Filipino/Asian-American identity and experiences, and social commentary. It began as a hobby, but I soon realized it was helping me express myself and connect with fans and supporters in a uniquely personal and immediate way.  The tremendous feedback I've received for my comic strips has shown me that many of you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy creating them, and I would love to continue producing them in tandem with my comic book project.  However, making a living creating art isn't easy (cue parents' refrain: "I told you so!") With a creator-owned book, you only make money once your book is published. But the problem with my comic strips is that there is no promise of income at all.  And that's where your help comes in!  I have been releasing my comic strips for free, and I will continue to do so, but if you enjoy them, please consider supporting me with donations.  Your pledge will not only keep the comic strips coming, but will ultimately help bring the book closer to release.
