Launched in 2018, Jamhoor is a Left media platform for South Asia and its diasporas. Our name — “the people” in Urdu — distills our commitments: we are for the people. To be for the people means understanding and combating the structures that weigh us down: imperialism, capitalism, patriarchy, casteism, racism, and queerphobia. To be for the people is to refuse the borders that divide us: it is internationalism. To be for the people is to imagine and build radical alternatives that let us thrive: it is to remake the world. Find out more at jamhoor.org Your generous patreon-age will be going towards three things: 1. Helping Jamhoor organize its events in the community: film screenings, discussions, and talks. 2. Paying our contributors, who come from around the world. 3. We're especially interested in supporting under-resourced writers located in South Asia. Right now, we have a plan to commission investigative, on-the-ground researched articles from a network of writers in Pakistan. We plan to expand that network to other South Asian countries. A little donation in dollars, when converted to rupees, goes a long way in supporting these precarious writers. In return, we'll offer you exciting content and a vote bank should you decide to run for elections.
