What are you writing? Currently, a web serial called <a href="https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/60396/thresholder" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Thresholder</a>, a multi-genre scifi fantasy work about a man who travels between worlds, gaining powers as he goes.What have you written? The big one is&nbsp;a web serial called <a href="http://archiveofourown.org/works/11478249/chapters/25740126" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Worth the Candle</a>. It's 1.6 million words over four years, which puts me in a fairly exclusive club of people who have completed projects that long. My follow-up to that was <a href="https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/45534/this-used-to-be-about-dungeons" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">This Used to be About Dungeons</a>, which was 1 million words over two years.&nbsp;I wrote&nbsp;<a href="http://alexanderwales.com/shadows/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Shadows of the Limelight</a> in 2015 (complete), and&nbsp;<a href="http://alexanderwales.com/glimwarden/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Glimwarden</a> in 2016 (incomplete, on indefinite hiatus), along with a handful of shorter works and/or fanfiction (<a href="https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10360716/1/The-Metropolitan-Man" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">The Metropolitan Man</a>&nbsp;being the most well-known). I also co-host the podcast&nbsp;<a href="http://daystareld.com/podcasts/rationally-writing/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Rationally Writing</a> with Daystar Eld, which is a podcast about writing and fiction with a particular focus on the element of thought.So what's this story you're writing about? Thresholder is my attempt at doing a jumpchain-style story, where a person moves from world to world crossing genres and gaining diverse powers, but stripped of a lot of the stuff that I didn't like about the concept. There's a mash-up of worlds, abilities, and people, which is cool, and the ability to explore a new setting roughly every "book". Peregrin Holzmann is our titular thresholder, a grad student from Tacoma, who starts the first book with a few worlds already under his belt and a healthy dose of combat experience.What's the schedule? Thresholder updates on Mondays and Thursdays. Chapters are in the neighborhood of 5,000 words each. Overall word count hovers around 1.5K words per day.What sorts of perks are there? Patrons at the $1 (minimum) level get access to DRM-free hard copies of most of what I've written in epub, mobi, and PDF formats. Currently, this means that you'll get the completed serial Shadows of the Limelight, the novella The Case of the Sleeping Beauties, and all chapters of Glimwarden&nbsp;that are available. When the e-book of Worth the Candle is done, I'll have to figure out what makes financial sense as far as having it as a reward. At $5, you get access to Thresholder seven chapters ahead of what's on RoyalRoad. I&nbsp;<a href="https://discord.gg/PMeRkNF" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">have a Discord</a>, which I'm on at night, and will be stopping in to visit whenever I'm writing, or when I have a break during the day. The Discord is open to all, but the Early Bird channel will be restricted to people at (or above) that tier. I'm&nbsp;hoping that doing it this way doesn't kill discussion or divide the readership, which I think is somewhat toxic to growth, but we'll see. Goals are mostly for things that I think I can produce with relative speed, or failing that, at least without impacting the main writing project. Previous goals for Worth the Candle&nbsp;included&nbsp;<a href="https://archiveofourown.org/works/14777618" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">The Council of Arches,</a>&nbsp;a side-story,&nbsp;<a href="https://archiveofourown.org/works/20629112" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">A Brief Description of Aerb,</a>&nbsp;a worldbuilding document, and <a href="https://archiveofourown.org/works/47107573" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">The Exclusionary Principle</a>, a splatbook of sorts, all of which are worth reading (in my opinion). Overlord

Each morning at daybreak, I will say your name while making a circular (widdershins) path around a yew tree. When that tree is full grown, it will be felled and turned to create a staff of power. The staff shall be mine alone, but hopefully it will contain some of your psychic essence.

Titan of Patronage

Legend tells of six and one keys, lost and scattered. If you pledge at this tier, I will devote two hours of every day to their retrieval, sending my familiars and servants far and wide. If, after seven years time, I have not found the full collection, I will instead devote my time to reforging the keys, with the necessary sacrifices that is said to entail, may the gods have mercy on my soul.
