We are a patent strategy firm.

Patent Engineering is a boutique patent firm established to provide thoughtful patent services to entrepreneurs, scientists, investors, and more. Our focus is on protecting our clients’ innovations through patents. We take pride in accurately and efficiently protecting world-changing inventions.

Our approach to securing patents leverages our unique experience.

Image

We remove uncertainty by taking time upfront to really know the inventor, the invention, and the businesses goals. Our cases often issue within 8 months — providing total clarity for the inventor as time and resources are invested into commercializing. Through a unique mix of strategy and experience, IP protection is often 3x faster than traditional approaches.

Strategy

Research the invention and understand the invention-market fit. How does this invention differ from what has been commercialized and patented by others.

Scope

We work tirelessly to articulate and claim the broadest scope of an invention. Because we are award-winning engineers, we can envision how others will attempt to work-around the claims.

Speed

Early issued patents enable business. A top priority is to get a patent granted so you can confidently invest time and financial resources to push the invention into the market.

Patent services for innovative minds.

We are clever.  In patent drafting, this shows up as claims that maximize protection, while providing clarity and novelty that an Examiner requires for quick prosecution.

(former) USPTO Director Andrei Iancu

"There was a moment when Patent Engineering brought together the physical design and engineering of the product along with an IP strategy that was more streamlined than anything else I’d received from other agencies up to that point. They provided a holistic approach."

Christina Bellman, CEO, LEVO Oil Infusion

"Working with Patent Engineering is so much more than just curating a patent. PE offers an incredible wealth of life experience resulting in a very pragmatic outlook and delivering a return on investment far exceeding simply securing intellectual property protection. That is priceless!"

David Armitage

"We had three design patents and a utility patent that were approved because of Patent Engineering. They really took the time to understand what we were trying to accomplish and the product, including taking the initiative to visit retail stores that carried our product on display. PE is easy to talk to and fantastic to work with."

Drain-Pipe Interface Device

Abstract

A drain-pipe interface device is disclosed. The drain-pipe interface device may include a hollow profile defining a threaded portion located on an outer surface the hollow profile. The threaded portion is configured to engage with an opening associated with a drain-pipe, to couple the drainpipe interface device with the opening. The drain-pipe interface device may further include a handle provided on the hollow profile. The handle may be used to rotate the drain-pipe interface device couple with the opening.

Portable Hydration System

Abstract

A headset for a hydration system is disclosed. The headset includes a fluid conduit adapted to connect to a distal end of a hydration system supply tube, and a magnetic quick connect having an upstream and a downstream coupling member. The upstream and downstream coupling members have a common mating axis and together define a portion of the fluid conduit. The upstream member also includes an off-axis arm that may be rotated about the mating axis without decoupling the coupling members. A headgear mount for use in headsets for hydration systems, such as the disclosed headset, is also provided.

Apparatus and Methods for Reducing Fugitive Gas Emissions at Oil Facilities

Abstract

In one illustrative configuration, an air quality monitoring system may enable wide-scale deployment of multiple air quality monitors with high-confidence and actionable data is provided. Further, the air quality monitoring system may enable identifying a target emission from a plurality of potential sources at a site based on simulating plume models. The simulation of plume models may take into consideration various simulation parameters including wind speed and direction. Further, methods of determining a plume flux of a plume of emissions at a site, and methods of transmitting data from an air quality monitor are disclosed.

Dump Trailer And System For A Semi-trailer Truck

Abstract

A dump trailer and system for a semi-trailer truck are disclosed. The dump trailer and system includes a tub, a coupling plate configured to engage the dump trailer to the tractor, a first hydraulic cylinder hinge, a second hydraulic cylinder, and a draft arm attached to the coupling plate and the tub that cooperate to improve manufacturing economics and/or dumping of a load carried by the dump trailer.

Collapsible Shelter System

Abstract

A collapsible shelter system is provided that includes a base defining a front edge and a back edge and a roof defining a front edge and a back edge. A front height is defined by the distance between the front edge of the base and the front edge of the roof, and a back height is defined by the distance between the back edge of the base and the back edge of the roof. The system further includes a first side wall and a second wall, each including a lower portion hingedly attached to the base and an upper portion hingedly attached to the roof, and the lower portion hingedly attached to the upper portion along a middle-hinge axis. The collapsible shelter system is configurable between a closed position and an open position. In the open position, the back height is greater than the front height.

Air Sampling Actuator And Associated Method

Abstract

An air sampling actuator and associated method are disclosed. The air sampling actuator may include a housing configured to mount on a canister, a motor configured to be accommodated in the housing, and an adaptor. The motor may generate a mechanical action, in response to a control signal received by the motor. The adaptor may be coupled to the motor, and configured to interface with a valve-controlling knob of the canister. In a first configuration of the air sampling actuator, the adaptor may be uncoupled from the valve-controlling knob of the canister, and the hook portion may be unengaged with the canister. In a second configuration of the air sampling actuator, the adaptor may be coupled with the valve-controlling knob of the canister, and the hook portion may be engaged with the canister.

Greenhouse Shading System

Abstract

Illustrative configurations of greenhouse shading systems are disclosed. One illustrative system includes a plurality of main trusses supporting a translucent material defining an interior space, a plurality of gantries; and a plurality of shades attached to the gantries and the main trusses. The main trusses, gantries, and shades cooperate to move the shades between a closed position and an open position thereby regulating the amount of light the entering interior space of the greenhouse.

Pet Hydration System

Abstract

Illustrative configurations of a pet hydration system and methods are disclosed. The pet hydration system includes a bowl section configured to temporarily store water therein. In one configuration, a hydrogen-generation assembly is positioned in the bowl section. The hydrogen-generation assembly generates and introduces hydrogen into the water temporarily stored in the bowl section. In other configurations, methods related to pet hydration are also disclosed.

Handheld compound tester to process a tablet and a method thereof

Abstract

A handheld compound tester to process and detect presence of a compound in a tablet is disclosed. The handheld compound tester may include a sampling chamber configured to receive a tablet and a lid couplable with the sampling chamber. The coupling of the lid with the sampling chamber may cause cutting of the tablet. A liquid may be added inside the sampling chamber to create a mixture with segments of the tablet. The mixture may be then received by a housing adjoining the sampling chamber. A test strip disposed within the housing, upon contacting the mixture, may be configured to indicate a presence of the compound in the mixture.
