Wanted: Single Grey Sock

We are missing one grey sock. Last seen on Jacob's feet, we are no longer able to visualize it in or around the contained space in which the subject (Jacob) was residing.

This wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that we have to leave the house in about twenty minutes, and Jacob, therefore, has to be shod at that time. Alas, earwax.

The differences between book-based fandoms and television show-based fandoms intrigue me. It's a different mindset, it seems, not the least in terms of what is constituted AU. I mean, ignore the last book in a series such as HP? That would make a story AU, at least in most people's mind. Ignoring what happened in the last episode or two or five of a television show, however, or parts of what happened in an episode, doesn't really seem to be considered AU.

All right, enough rambling about that. Let's ramble elsewhat.

Back at the end of August, I went to one of the many meetings I somehow find myself attending in order to engage in what Mothers & More terms "business." I mentioned that, previously, many new members who join at Open House desire to attend a Mommy & Me Supper, but that when we introduce the idea, we inevitably tell them "This month's Supper is already full." So I volunteered myself to host a second Mommy & Me Supper for the month of October.

No one ever contacted me about a cap (on the number of children) or any of the other details that would need to be arranged. No evite or reminder email was ever sent out. In fact, aside from the listing in the newsletter, you'd never know that I volunteered at all. Why do I bring this up? This phantom event was supposed to happen today, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. So while, logically, I know that someone dropped the ball, part of me still fears that I'll get back from the YMCA and find people bearing potluck dishes waiting on my front stoop, demanding to know why I wasn't home and where the main entree is.

I finished re-watching S2 of CSI:. I ended up putting S3 on my birthday list, which normally would be fine, but I didn't receive it for my birthday, and I never know if my relatives will pull things from my birthday list to give me for Christmas. S4 is on my amazon list, which basically is only used by my parents and MIL (used to, FIL used it, but alas, my days of token presents shipped from amazon have ended), so in theory, I could buy that for myself without taking any chances, but the whole thing violates my innate sense of order, so I think I'll go ahead and rewatch S5 and then buy S6 as soon as I can. Just to really confuse myself. Look, it's Greg in the lab and relatively happy Sara! Now it's Greg in the field and relatively happy Sara! Now it's Greg in the lab AND the field and really NOT happy Sara!
